September 21st - Week 21

Hello MP Market Goers!

Leaves are starting to turn the maples on Ridge Street a gorgeous shade of red, yellow, and orange. And what goes better on the front porch with those beautiful colors of fall? Pumpkins! Bures Berry Patch has everything you'll need to decorate your porch for fall so be sure to check out their stand this Saturday! Did you know that at the Patch they grow close to 40 different varieties of pumpkins, squash, and gourds!!

Fall is in full swing in our farmers' fields as well and that means you get to reap the benefits. Vines are dying back to expose what's been growing all season and the scramble to harvest (before first frost) has begun in earnest. Items like tomatoes and cucumbers, egg plant, peppers, and raspberries won't last past frost (unless they're in a hoop house) so be sure to stock up this Saturday and get some in your freezer!

Here is a partial list of items at this week's market:
Cub Scout Popcorn, Beef, Pork, Chicken, Bacon, Alaskan Seafood, Cheese, Eggs, Fresh Baked Bread, Tomatoes, Cauliflower, Cabbage, Broccoli, Carrots, Peppers, Eggplant, Fennel Bulb, Celery, Dill, Thyme, Parsley, Lettuce Heads, Swiss Chard, Kale, Beets, Cucumbers, Tomatillos, Raspberries, Winter Squash, Pumpkins, Gourds, Maple Syrup, Honey, Soup, Beautiful Floral Bouquets, Coffee, Sweet and Savory Baked Goods, Tomato Sauces, Pies, Pickles, Salsa, Jam, Watercolor Paintings, Prints and Cards, Wood Crafts, Kids Activities, and much more. Come and check it all out!
We look forward to seeing you this Saturday in Water Tower Park, Business Hwy 151 at Madison Street, Mineral Point! 8:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Fall is here at the Patch and it starts with Raspberries, Squash and now PUMPKINS! We're super excited to have such a bountiful red raspberry crop this season. Get them while you can, come frost they will be gone. It's also officially fall at the Patch! This week we’ll have spaghetti, butternut, delicata, and maybe some acorn squash. We’ll also have our full line of gorgeous pumpkins, gourds, and Indian corn as well at as Pure Wisconsin Maple Syrup, Local Honey and Frozen Cream of Asparagus Soup (bring your coolers). Looking to decorate? Because we're open on Saturdays and Sundays with hayrides, a corn maze, and pick-your-own pumpkins we won't be attending every Saturday left. So if you see us at market, be sure to grab what you need for a couple of weeks otherwise we hope to see you in the Patch soon! Café 43
Many of you know us as the little spot next to Tequila Point. We thought it might be nice to share a taste of the café with you all. Tim and Richard, myself and Richard's mom have been working on some sweet and savory offerings (several of which are café favorites). All of our recipes are scratch-made in small batches right down the street in the kitchen of the Old Royal Inn. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do! We will also be serving hot and cold Colectivo coffee (roasted in Milwaukee and served in the café). Thank you for stopping by. We look forward to a wonderful season!
Chestnut Hill Studio
Jan will be at her spot under the shelter weather permitting with paintings, prints, cards, and ceramic tiles. Stop and see examples of homes, pets, kids, and portraits Jan has done for clients. Great gifts for anniversaries, birthday, memorials or just because.
Cub Scout Popcorn
The Mineral Point Cub Scout Pack 337 will be at the Market this weekend selling popcorn!  The popcorn sales have a direct impact on local Scouting activities and are used to fund the Pack all year long.  We will have a lot of popcorn on hand so no need to wait for your order to be delivered at a later date!  There are lots of options to choose from!  Unpoped, microwave, butter toffee, sweet and salty, chocolate, caramel, cheese and more.  There is even an option to send popcorn directly to military personnel.  We hope to see you on Saturday and thank you for your support of Scouting!
Divisions Cut Flower Farm
Unfortunately, with all the rain and wind the remainder of the growing season, I'm sad to say, I will not be back to the market with fresh flowers this season.  I hope to be back in October with our Spring bulbs dried bundles, bouquets, and wreaths fingers crossed) Thanks for your understanding and support! Jason

I will not be at the market this weekend. My market season is done for this year, unless we go into November.  But that doesn't mean my work will not be available!  Once again this year, I will be participating in the Driftless Area Art Festival in Soldiers Grove on September 21st-22nd.  This is my favorite event of the year and well worth the picturesque drive though the Driftless Area as the leaves start to change. I will also be on the Fall Art Tour October 18-20.  When I'm not at the market my cards are available at the Mineral Point Collection located at 151 High Street. You can also view my work at www.magiclightphotography.com or on my Facebook Page. If you see anything of mine online that you would like a print of, please let me know! I'm also available for special photo projects and portrait sessions. Contact me for more information.

Summer is over 'again' and we are back to Fall. Have to say Fall feels pretty nice. Word on the street is the Market will be moving indoors at Aspen Ridge again this year once the outdoor Market ends so stay tuned to the weekly newsletter for updates. As the season winds down we will gradually discontinue items we carry only during the Market season. As usual, for best selection make sure you come to Market early and stock up on your favorite beef and pork cuts or perhaps live on the edge and try something totally new. If you need a large quantity or just want to pre-order for pick-up at Market, e-mail your order to federman@charter.net or call 608-574-2899 by 5:00 p.m. Friday.

Shooting Star Farm
Feels like summer again. Wet, sticky, muddy summer. We could use some dry stretches, but the heat has certainly helped ripen my late crop of tomatoes. Zucchini is pretty much done, cucumbers plants are ready to give in after 3 ½  months of production, but I still have tomatoes. I’ll have small and large red tomatoes,  roma (sauce) tomatoes, several varieties of cherry tomatoes, and a nice selection of heirlooms again  this weekend. Lots more will be on the way in coming weeks. This will be the last week for green beans. The plants want to be done producing, and we want to be done picking. Green cabbage will be back, plus I’ll have more broccoli and possibly a few heads of purple cauliflower. Other items this week include: fennel bulb, celery, eggplant, green peppers (bell and Italian frying), hot peppers, tomatillos, kale, swiss chard, spinach, salad mix, arugula, lots of baby lettuce heads, beets, parsley, thyme, dill, cilantro, shallots, yellow onions, and lavender Italian bottle onions. Looks like great weather Saturday. See you then!

Sitka Salmon
We will be back September 21st with a variety of wild-caught Alaskan seafood.

Sunny Side Down Farm
We are modern farmers without a farming past. We started our market garden farm completely from scratch. Our interest in becoming self-sufficient and sustainable created a passion for Artisan Breads, Jams, Sauces, Salsas, Pickles, and Pies.
We are back this Saturday with all the fresh Sourdough and Artisan Boule Breads (made with Meadowlark Organics flour from Ridgeway, WI). New this weekend - fresh batches of Apple Butter and Bluebarb Butter (we'll even tell you some great ideas on how to use these in cooking). Peach Crumble and Apple Pies are also in season this weekend! But come early - our Artisan Bread and Pies go fast! Feel free to follow us at www.facebook.com/SunnySideDownFarm/ Thank you everyone for the warm welcome the last couple weekends!

Shooting Star Farm
Hope everyone had a chance to grill out, relax, or go to the fair over Labor Day weekend. Looks like the weather this Saturday will be pleasant once again. It has been difficult to ripen a late crop of tomatoes with such cool nights, so I won’t have canning quantities yet, but I will have more on my table than last week. Varieties will include red slicers, lots of heirlooms, salad-sized red and orange tomatoes, a few romas, and a good amount of red, Sungold, grape, and mixed cherry tomato pints. Broccoli is back this week, and radishes may be ready to pick as well. Spinach is finally available again, too. Not a whole lot this week, but I will have some. Other items include salad mix, arugula, baby romaine lettuce, Swiss chard, kale, green Italian frying peppers, shishito peppers, jalapeno peppers, tomatillos, red beets, cucumbers, white onions, purple bottle onions, celery, fennel bulbs, green beans, cilantro, dill, parsley, and thyme. Basil is done for the year, and zucchinis are on their last legs, so not sure if I’ll have any. More fall items coming soon.  See you on Saturday!

Come to my booth to get some great books for your kids to keep them engaged in some fun reading for the school year. You could also purchase an "Awesome Box" for that special teacher in your life! Take advantage of the perks you get by purchasing directly and locally (no shipping! good deals! on the spot recommendations!) Let your kiddos browse my books, grab a bookmark and if enough kiddos gather around maybe an impromptu story time will happen! If you don't see what you're looking for, don't hesitate to ask!
