I am planning on being back at the market once again with a large selection of my nature and wildlife prints and cards, along with a book featuring almost 80 of my favorite photos.  All of my cards are blank inside so they can be used for any occasion.  If the delivery guy gets here in time, I will have 3 new metal prints on display.  One is of the newly painted "Thank You Farmers" barn between Mineral Point and Dodgeville.  Another is of the sunflower field on HWY 23 just north of Dodgeville, and the other is of this years 4th of July fireworks in Mineral Point.  My photos don't handle moister very well so I won't be at the market if there is rain in the forecast.  When I'm not at the market my cards are always available at the Mineral Point Collection located on High Street.  You can also view my work at www.magiclightphotography.com.  My website has been long overdue for an update, and I finally had some time to work on it over the last couple of weeks.  The wildlife and scenic galleries have both been updated with a fresh new look and lots of new photographs.  The galleries are even viewable on mobile devices now!  See you Saturday! Thanks, Mike
Marr's Valley View Farms
We are fully stocked with ground beef patties, hot dogs and bratwurst for your weekend cookout!  And of course, Tenderloin, New York Strip and Top Sirloin are irresistible on the grill.  Feeding extra-hungry mouths - go for the "meal on it's own" Porterhouse or T-Bone steak.  If you are like us, you are a lover of weekend family breakfasts that include bacon, pork sausage and ham.  Our Pork Chops are great grilling companions to our beef products.  Even though it is summer, we have all varieties of Beef and Pork Roasts on hand - all of which hit new levels of "delicious" when done on the grill.  Our Stew Meat makes the prefect shish-ka-bob meat.  Or how about some Beef Short Ribs and Pork Spare Ribs "falling-off-the-bone" slow cooked.  If you are in need of a large quantity please place your order in advance and we will have it all ready for you to pick up at the Market.  When you dine on Marr's Valley View Farms meats, rest assured you are eating naturally lean meats - fresh beef and pork products direct from a local farm to you.  If you need a large quantity - send an e-mail to federman@charter.net or call 608-574-2899 by Friday evening and we will have your order ready for pickup at the Market.  See you Saturday!  All of us at Marr's Valley View Farms, Mineral Point, WI.

Mummu's Makeovers aka Susan Marr
Hi All!  Well, it's very interesting how things can change in one phone call.  My son , Bill, called to say Giada's day care was cancelled for the week so the bonus is mine!!  I do have her again this week but this WILL be the last as she does start school next week.  So we have been having more fun.....which means less sewing on Mummu's part.  But that's ok as I did get many things done over the week-end.  So, weather permitting, I plan to be at Market this Sat. Aug. 29.  However, it doesn't sound real promising.....long needed rain is in the forecast and that would be great.  I certainly wouldn't mind missing a Market day to the rain.  And I imagine our farmers would love it, too!  Things are getting pretty dry.  So, hopefully I'll see you at Market but if you or I can't be there and you need a gift, please don't forget you can always call me at 623-2592 and I'd love to have you come and shop at my house in Cobb. But if you and I are there, do stop by and say "Hi" and visit a bit.  See you soon!    Mummu
Pointer Pantry
was originally inspired by a couple of Facebook posts where regular people stepped up to help someone in a pinch, paying for a snack at Kwik Trip for two kids short on change, buying a homeless man a cup of coffee.
Knowing that summer can be a tough time for some kids when school lunches aren't available, it seemed there had to be a way to help them out.
A few phone calls, Facebook posts, text messages and only days later, Pointer Pantry was born.
One person after another said, "I can do that!" This can-do attitude, many would say you'll only find in Mineral Point, is allowing us to solve a big problem for Mineral Point kids in a really simple way.
Stop by the Pointer Pantry booth on Saturday for more info!
If you're on Facebook, be sure to join Pointer Pantry to keep up-to-date on volunteer opportunities.  If you're not on Facebook, you may contact Mo May Grimm at 608-574-3555.
Queen Bee Acres
We will be returning to MP Market this week with the last of our honey for the season.  We will be harvesting this season's honey labor day weekend. Honey is available, some sizes in limited amounts.  Creamed honey is available in 12 oz tubs.  Come & enjoy the market.  Feel free to ask questions about beekeeping.  We are happy to share our beekeeping knowledge and experiences.  Pete & Fran Demo, Keepers of the   Bees; www.queenbeeacres.com
Shooting Star Farm
Roma tomato season is here! We’ll have lots of roma (a.k.a. paste) tomatoes at market this week. They are great for making salsa, canning, or making quick and fresh pasta sauce.  Though meaty, they have enough juice for good flavor when eaten fresh, too. We’ll also have lots of delicious saladette tomatoes, heirlooms, and cherry tomatoes. Other veggies on the table this week: eggplant, peppers, onions,  green beans, scallions, leeks, green cabbage, kale, Swiss chard, salad mix, arugula, lettuces, summer squash, cucumbers, beets, tomatillos, cilantro, dill, basil, and some cantaloupe and water melons.  See you Saturday! Rink, Jenny, and Charlie.
Sweet Earth Gardens
Sweet Earth gardens will be at the market this week. We will have gladiolas, delphiniums, sunflowers, dahlias, alliums, zinnias, hydrangeas.  Looking forward to seeing you.  Barbara
Tippy Top Orchard
Mike from Tippy Top may or may not be at market this week. He’s hoping the new crops of pears ripen in time, but they may take one more week. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Here is a list of the unconfirmed vendors that may or may not be at market this week:

If you are interested in being a vendor, contact Jenny Bonde at starfarm@mhtc.net or Lois Federman at federman@charter.net.

August 22nd - Week 17

Hello MP Market Goers!

Wow, we sure had the full spectrum of weather this week! For a couple of days there it was like we were living in Florida then on Wednesday fall was here for a thankfully brief visit!
Speaking of visits...I visited the city of Seattle Washington this past week. It was a great visit with wonderful food and beautiful sites. In fact, I visited the Pike Place Market and guess what I found there?? Wisconsin! Not just Wisconsin, but Mineral Point was there!

Being at the Pike Place Market was eye opening. It really made me grateful for what we have in Wisconsin. There were very few farmers or fisherman for that matter at the Pike Place Market. Most of the products there are being resold! Don't get me wrong, the produce was delicious but it was hard to know where exactly things were grown and how they were grown or how long ago it was harvested. Count me happy to be back in Wisconsin eating sweet corn and raspberries that were just picked.
This is one reason the Mineral Point Market is so special! The only time we allow products to be resold is when the product is from Wisconsin and we don't have a current vendor offering the product.

Here is a partial list of items at this week's market:  Beef, Pork, Chicken, Eggs, Cheese, Salad Mix, Arugula, Lettuce, Kale, Collards, Swiss Chard, Onions, Carrots, Fennel, Green Beans, Cucumbers, Scallions, Leeks, Beets, Summer Squash, Basil, Cilantro, Parsley, Cabbage, Peppers, Cherry Tomatoes, Heirloom TomatoesBroccoli, Eggplant, Tomatillos, Melons, Sweet Corn, Potatoes, Raspberries, Maple Syrup, Frozen Cream of Asparagus Soup, Frozen Strawberry Rhubarb Pie, Dilly Beans, Pectin, Baked Goods, Watercolor art, Wildlife prints and cards, Dehydrated veggies, Corn meal and flour, Baby Food, Kimchi and pickles, Pears, Fresh Cut Flowers, Goat Milk Soaps and Lotions, Doll Clothes, Alpaca Products, honey and so much more.  Come and check it all out!

We look forward to seeing you this Saturday morning at Water Tower Park, Business Hwy 151 at Madison Street, Mineral Point! 8:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Hi All!   Well, you might know I am loving this drop in temperature!!  It is so great to put on jeans and sweatshirt again!!  I was beginning to think I may never need them again!  This is my last week to have Giada with us b/4 school starts so I am not spending any time at the sewing machine.  We are getting the last of the "fun stuff" done instead. So I will NOT be at Market Aug. 22.  I always want to have a minimum of 10 new items to offer (and have even been able to go to 26 one time) but that won't happen this week. So I will be busy all next week.  If you do need a gift or want to stop by my house in Cobb and say "Hi" and see me at work, please call at 623-2592.  I will most likely be ready for a break!!  Looking forward to my next Market day which will be Aug. 29.  See you all then!!   Mummu

It’s that time of year when there’s so much to harvest that it’s difficult to keep up with all the weeding, mowing, planting, and watering. At least that last item isn’t an issue for a while since we got some good rain Tuesday. This week at Market we’ll have lots of eggplant. Don’t like eggplant? Try brushing slices with oil and grilling them. Season with salt and pepper. The grill removes so much moisture you might not realize you’re eating eggplant. We love them! To go along with eggplant, peppers, onions, and tomatoes. We’ll have plenty of cherry tomatoes this week, along with some romas, heirlooms, and reds. We may be a bit short on red slicing tomatoes, but we’ll bring what we have. Other veggies on the table this week: carrots, green beans, scallions, leeks, green cabbage, kale, Swiss chard, salad mix, arugula, lettuces, summer squash, cucumbers, beets, tomatillos, basil, and possibly a few melons. See you Saturday! Rink, Jenny, and Charlie

August 15th - Week 16

Hello MP Market Goers!

Congratulations goes to Alicia Kanitz, winner of last week's market basket drawing!
We are over halfway through our market season and we are entering the season of preserving. Now is the time to start thinking about what you will eat this winter. Will it be healthy and delicious produce or something that was raised many miles away and is grown to travel long distances without spoiling?
There will be many great items this week at market that you may want to preserve for winter. Basil, Tomatoes, Sweet Corn, Green Beans and much more. Looking for ideas on how to preserve your favorite market items? Ask the grower, we are here to help!
Some vendors have even taken the work out of preserving for you. Gough's Gorgeous Farm Goods and Bures Berry Patch have several items already preserved for your dining pleasure.
This week give them a try or try your hand at preserving your own market produce.

Here is a partial list of items at this week's market:  Beef, Pork, Chicken, Eggs, Cheese, Salad Mix, Arugula, Lettuce, Kale, Collards, Swiss Chard, Red and Gold Beets, Onions, Carrots, Fennel, Green Beans, Cucumbers, Summer Squash, Basil, Cilantro, Parsley, Cabbage, Green Peppers, Cherry Tomatoes, Heirloom TomatoesBroccoli, Eggplant, Spinach, Sweet Corn, Potatoes, Maple Syrup, Frozen Cream of Asparagus Soup, Frozen Strawberry Rhubarb Pie, Dilly Beans, Pectin, Baked Goods, Watercolor art, Wildlife prints and cards, Dehydrated veggies, Corn meal and flour, Baby Food, Kimchi and pickles, Pears, Fresh Cut Flowers, Goat Milk Soaps and Lotions, Doll Clothes, Alpaca Products, honey and so much more.  Come and check it all out!

Magic Light Photography
I will not be at market this week. Be back soon with a large selection of my nature and wildlife prints and cards, along with a book featuring almost 80 of my favorite photos.  All of my cards are blank inside so they can be used for any occasion.  I will also be displaying a new 20x30 canvas print of Dells Mill from Augusta WI, shot in infra-red.  My photos don't handle moister very well so I won't be at the market if there is rain in the forecast.  When I'm not at the market my cards are always available at the Mineral Point Collection located on High Street.  You can also view my work at www.magiclightphotography.com.  See you Saturday! Thanks, Mike.
Matchbook Magnets
Hello market-goers!  I will not be at the market this week, but will be returning August 8th with my vintage matchbook magnets.  See you then!   matchbookmagnets@yahoo.com  Cindy
Mummu's Makeovers aka Susan Marr
Hi All!!  What a fantastic day last Sat. at Market!  Thank you so much to everyone that stopped to visit and/or shop!  This week is going to be one of those really "if-y" days.  Right now I'm planning to NOT be at Market as my plans are to be in Lancaster most of the day on Friday for their Sidewalk Sales, etc. with a craft/vendor day on their Square from 7 a.m. till 2 p.m.  But, it seems rain is in the forecast and that means I stay home.  It  is also Corn Roast week-end in Cobb so I may set up in my front yard on Sat. and/or Sun.  So I honestly don't know if I will be at Market on Sat.  I hate to be so unsure, but that's how it is at this moment.  If you and I are there, do stop by and say "Hi" and visit a bit.  Otherwise, please feel free to call me at 623-2592 if I can be of any help for a quick gift, etc.
We are happy to be back at MP Market this week with local honey from Iowa and   Lafayette Counties.  Our honey is available in various sizes in plastic and glass bottles.  Creamed honey will also be available while supplies last.  We offer sweet   smelling golden beeswax in small, medium & large size bars. Come & enjoy the market.  Feel free to ask questions about beekeeping.  We are happy to share our beekeeping knowledge and experiences.  Pete & Fran Demo, Keepers of the   Bees; www.queenbeeacres.com
Shooting Star Farm
It’s hard to believe we had nearly an inch and a half of rain a week ago. The wind has really dried things out. Hose moving time! Temperatures have been good for ripening tomatoes, so we should have more this week than last. Look for delicious “saladette” varieties (two-bite tomatoes), as well as some larger slicing heirlooms, red slicers, and plum/paste tomatoes. Not big quantities, but they more than last week. Other items include fresh white and Italian bottle onions, bunched carrots, beets (red and Chioggia), broccoli, red and green cabbage, Swiss chard, kale, collards, green beans, cucumbers, summer squash, green peppers (bell and Italian frying types), eggplant, basil, cilantro, parsley, arugula, mixed heads of lettuce, and some spinach. We’re still a little short on salad mix, but we’ll bring as much as we can. Rink will be riding in the Dairyland Dare again this year, so cheer him on if you him!
Sweet Earth Gardens
Sweet Earth gardens will be attending the market this week.  We will have delphiniums, liatris dahlias, gladiolas, zinnias, summer alliums, cosmos, hydrangeas sunflowers, alstomerias and more.  Hope to see you there. Barbara
