I am planning on being at the market this weekend, weather permitting.  Once again I will have a selection of my nature and wildlife photography available as matted prints ready for framing as well as greeting cards and a book featuring over 80 of my favorite photos.  All of my cards are blank inside so they can be used for any occasion.  I have a couple of NEW photos that I captured over the winter that will be on display as well.  These new photos are printed on high gloss aluminum and are ready to hang, without any additional framing needed!  Along with the new prints, I also have some new cards.  I will also have an 11x17 poster of my most popular photograph, Bucky's Twins.  I'm no longer making photographic prints of this image so this is the next best way to get an enlarged copy of this photo at an affordable price and printed locally!  When I'm not at the market my cards are always available at the Mineral Point Collection located at 151 High Street.  New this year, I am going to be joining a group of artist at the Hight Street Gallery located at 33 High Street.  If I'm not at the market, a larger selection of my work will be available at the gallery, open Friday - Saturday from 10-5 and Sunday 11-4.  The gallery is currently under construction but we hope to be opening soon.  You can also view my work at www.magiclightphotography.com and you can like and follow my work on Facebook.  My photos don't handle moister very well so I won't be at the market if there is rain in the forecast.  Thanks, Mike

Mummu's Makeovers aka Susan Marr
Hi All!  What beautiful weather!!  I am loving it as it's so much like the Upper Michigan weather where I grew up!  And the best part is it sounds like this will continue for a few more days......which is great as that means I will be at Market this Sat. July 2.  Do stop by and say "Hi" and see all of the new clothes for the dolls!   I am busy, busy this week so will have LOTS of new things.  Included will be beach sets*, more sun dresses and new "handkerchief skirt" sets!  They are such fun to make and really very cute. Also new fabrics for the "Seat belt Buddies".   So check them out!!  If you can't be at Market and need a gift, feel free to call (623-2592) and we can set up a time for you to come to my house in Cobb and do your shopping there!  Have a great week and safe holiday.  Celebrate our country!   Mummu    *In case I forget to remind you when you purchase beach sets, do NOT put your dolls in water!!   They do not swim and they don't like to be in the sun.  Keep them healthy and happy!!!
Platteville Sunflower Oil Company
Hello Mineral Point Farmers market goers! We are pleased to announce that the Platteville Sunflower Oil Company will now be available to you this summer! We are a nonprofit organization that is almost completely ran by students at UW-Platteville. We don’t get any compensation for running this new small business other than the great work experience and meeting the many amazing people of southwest Wisconsin. Compared to some of the other vendors we are only going to retail Sunflower oil, and maybe the occasional brownie sample here and there! Our Sunflowers are grown with certified organic sunflower seeds from here in Wisconsin's Driftless Region by two local farmers, from there they go to a place north of Madison where it is cold pressed in bulk just to turn around and come back to Platteville where it is bottled by the UW-Platteville students. Sunflower oil is a healthy alternative to olive oil. It has a light nutty flavor that brings a unique and artisan taste to the many different baked goods, sautéed vegetables, and boiled/baked meats. By being locally grown it has less of a carbon footprint that can’t be said by other oils and name brands. Additionally, all profits from the sales of our oil help to fund sustainability and renewable energy related education and community engagement projects throughout southwestern Wisconsin. There will be one or more of our board members available this weekend that will be more than happy to answer any questions you might have for our organization or our Sunflower oil. We welcome you to stop by, see you Saturday!
Pointer Pantry
Pointer Pantry will be selling coffee (regular and decaf) on Sat, 7/2 at Farmer's Market 8-11.
$2/Cup or any donation amount
We also have mugs donated by local potters for sale at $25 each (all proceeds to Pointer Pantry).
Pointer Pantry is a 501c3 (donations are tax deductible), which provides gift certificates to Mineral Point students at risk for being hungry when school is not in session. These gift certificates are good for two weeks and can redeemed at Point Foods for anything except alcohol or tobacco products. Pointer Pantry only pays Point Foods for redeemed gift certificates. Anyone who has questions can reach out to Mo May Grimm at 608-574-3555.
Queen Bee Acres
Sorry to report but we will not be at market until Saturday, July 9th.  We will have fresh creamed honey on our return.  Queen Bee Acres honey is available locally in limited sizes at The Pear on Fountain St. in Mineral Point and The Cobblestone Coffee House on Iowa St. in Dodgeville.  Queen Bee Acres features local honey from Iowa and Lafayette counties, as well as creamed honey and sweet smelling golden beeswax bars.  We look forward to seeing you again in a few weeks! Pete & Fran Demo, Keepers of the Bees queenbeeacres.com

These are about two-inches in diameter with green tops. Perfect for grilling, salads, or just about anything. Cucumbers are in great supply, too. How about cucumber and onion salad? We’ll have a limited supply of sugar snap peas (not a good crop this year), so come early if you want some. Other items this week include kale, Kossack kohlrabi (the big kind), zucchini and summer squash, fennel, collards, lettuce heads, arugula, salad greens, basil, parsley, cilantro, dill, garlic scapes, napa cabbage, and possibly red and green cabbage. June 25th - Week 8

Hello MP Market Goers!

So several of us were quite worried about the storms they were predicting on Wednesday. Fortunately they passed just south of us leaving our crops still a little thirsty for water but not beaten down by baseball size hail as occurred in northern Minnesota. So we are sighing relief. And since our weather has been good to us we are finding new items ready and waiting to be harvested and brought to market.
New this week is zuccini and summer squash as well as garlic scapes. Garlic scapes are fun and easy to work with; here is a great recipe for Sauteed Summer Squash and Garlic Scapes.

For the next few weeks our vendors will be in different locations due to the sidewalk repair going on in Water Tower Park. Be sure to look around; more than likely your favorite vendor is there but just in a different location.

Here is a partial list of items at this week's market:  Beef, Pork, Chicken, Eggs, Honey, Handmade Doll Clothes, Maple Syrup, Asparagus Soup, Strawberries, Sugar Snap Peas, Zucchini, Summer Squash, Cucumbers, Carrots, Beets, Broccoli, Kale, Kohlrabi, Fennel, Napa Cabbage, Radishes, Scallions, Garlic Scapes, Basil, Dill, Cilantro, Lettuce, Watercolor paintings and artwork, Strawberry Rhubarb Pie, Sunflower Oil, Perennial Plants, Yard Art, Baked Goods, Bread, Salsa, Jam, BBQ Sauce, Fresh Cut Flowers, and much more.   Come and check it all out!

We look forward to seeing you this Saturday morning at Water Tower Park, Business Hwy 151 at Madison Street, Mineral Point! 8:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Hi All!  It has been another busy week for me as we had Giada with us for 3 days again.  Also I was able to spend time with Haydn, too last nite to take both grandchildren to see "Finding Dory".  Cute movie!  And what a treat it was for me to spend time with both of them together!  But I will have a couple of days to sew for the dolls now and will have several new items on Sat.  I do plan to be at Market, weather permitting, as always.  Sounds ok at this time.  I can't say what I might focus on for new items so you will have to stop by and find out!!  I did have a couple of shoppers come to my house recently to shop so do keep that in mind.  If you need a birthday (or any other) gift, feel free to call and we can set up a time that works for both of us for you to come to Cobb.  My phone number is still 623-2592 and I am very easy to find.  I look forward to seeing everyone this Sat. June 25.  Remember to support our local dairy farmers all the time but especially now during Dairy Month!!  See you on Sat!!    Mummu

Hi All!  Just a quick note re: Market next Sat. June18.  As of right now I do plan to be there.....as long as the weather cooperates.  It looks good at this point.  I have Giada with me for most of this week so I don't know how much sewing I'll get done.  As I've said in the past "Grandchildren do trump pretty much everything else!"  (We had a super morning in the Burres' Strawberry Patch on Monday and have been enjoying fresh berries galore!!) So if you are at Market and I am too, do stop by and say "Hi".  There may be new items for the dolls....probably something with strawberry fabric or maybe patriotic for the 4th of July???  Check it out!!  Looking forward to seeing you on Sat.    Have a great week!    Mummu

Should be a beautiful summer day. See you Saturday! Rink, Jenny, and Charlie

Chestnut Hill Studio
Prints and cards from my original watercolor and colored  pencil drawings include old favorites and some new.  I am exploring sky and water this year and focusing on places rather than things. An expanding line up of ceramic tiles will include mosaic back-splashes and table tops.  I am hoping to offer custom pieces made to order.
I will have Jewelry only until the current inventory is sold out. Anyone interested in private watercolor painting lesson please stop by. I teach two people at a time at the rate of $10/hour each. My course is eight lessons long.
Carey's Greenhouse
I will have a wide variety of perennial and native plants, most of which provide excellent ground cover for hard to mow spots. I will have lily-of-the-valley, snow-on-the-mountain, woodland ferns and violets, as well as hostas, traditional tiger lillies, and several native plants. I will also have small lilacs for the first time this spring. With the cold wet spring my potted flowers are running a few weeks behind but should be ready by mid-June. Thanks, Del

Did you know this week is dairy goat awareness week? So try something different and get some goat cheese if you are at the grocery store. My personal favorite is Montcherve's blueberry log it's great with crackers! See you Saturday! Clare Heberlein

Magic Light Photography

Hi All!!  I am finally ready to be at Market on a pretty regular basis for the summer.  I did make it last week and it was so nice to see many familiar faces and I met several new friends.  Right now everything I will be bringing will be NEW from last season including hoodies for the dolls and the big item is the "Seat Belt Buddy".  I started making them when Giada went into a booster seat in the car and didn't want to use her shoulder seat belt because "I don't like the way it feels".  Thus was born the "Buddy".  Do stop by and see them!  They are nicely padded, using Velcro they attach to any seat belt (and are left on the belt all the time so you never have to look for them), are washable, reversible and a large variety of fabrics, including Badgers, Packers, Frozen, Nascar, Barbie, dinosaurs, cats, dogs, etc. etc. etc.  BUT.....they aren't just for little ones.  I use mine all the time now.  If you have to commute to work daily, travel to see the family, go on road trips,  or just running to the grocery store, you will more than likely appreciate how much more comfortable the seat belt across your shoulder/neck will be.  So I will be adding more fabrics all the time to accommodate more interests.  They might as well be nice looking, too!!  Anyway, I do plan to be at Market this Sat., June 11 so I hope to see you all there!  Do stop by and say Hi and let's get caught up!!  See you there!!    Mummu

Shooting Star Farm
It’s been a busy week getting in the last of the summer crops, working on trellising tomatoes, hoeing, and seeding the fall crops like cabbage and cauliflower. Plus, we’ve been irrigating again after some very windy, drying days. Greens will be the main item again at this week’s market: lettuce galore (gorgeous and lots of variety), spinach, salad mix, and arugula (hopefully). We should have some kale coming in, too. Radishes and Salad turnips should be plentiful again this week. Plus we may be digging carrots from our hoophouse! Also look for rhubarb, cilantro, dill, basil, and possibly some more green garlic. Should be a beautiful morning, so stop by and get a cup of coffee from the Pointer Pantry folks! Rink, Jenny, and Charlie
