July 1st - Week 9

Hello MP Market Goers!

It's the weekend of July 4th! What will you do this weekend? Got fireworks on the schedule? I for one am firing up the grill and will be marinating some chicken with a honey lime marinade. It's been awhile since we've had the time to use the grill but I'm hungry for that smokey flavor. What will you be serving this weekend?

But the Fourth of July is not all about fireworks and food. Want some creative ways to teach your children or grandchildren about the fourth and all it means. Here's a great site for ideas starting with what does "Independence Day" mean?

Hope to see you at the parade and fireworks on the 4th!

Here is a partial list of items at this week's market: Beef, Pork, Bacon, Chicken, Rabbit, Turkey, Duck, Cheese, Eggs, Beets, Carrots, Napa Cabbage, Broccoli, Kohlrabi, Sugar Snap Peas, Scallions, Mini Onions, Garlic Scapes, Cucumbers, Zucchini, Summer Squash, Lettuce, Endive, Salad Mix, Cilantro, Basil, Kale, Swiss Chard, Baby Leeks, Asparagus Soup, Strawberry Rhubarb Pie, Honey, Maple Syrup, Cards, Perennials, Scones, Muffins, Cookies, Bars, Salsa, Jams & Jellies, BBQ Sauce, Relish, Watercolor Art, Wildlife Prints, Fresh Flowers and much more. Come and check it all out!

We look forward to seeing you this Saturday morning at Water Tower Park, Business Hwy 151 at Madison Street, Mineral Point! 8:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Kathy Bures
Co-Manager

At market this week we'll have garlic scapes, frozen strawberry rhubarb pie, cream of asparagus soup, honey, and pure maple syrup. For more info about the Patch check out our websiteFacebook page, or sign up for our e-newsletter. We hope to see you in the Patch or at market soon! Kathy, Ed, Abby, and Ben
Carey's Greenhouse
I'll pretty much have the same things I had last week...cool damp weather means that a lot of stuff is a week or so behind. Its big, but not blooming.  I'll have hostas, lilacs, lily-of-the-valley, snow-on-the-mountain, ferns, violets, and day-lilies.
Chestnut Hill Studio
Prints and cards from my original watercolor and colored pencil drawings include old favorites and some new.  I am exploring sky and water this year and focusing on places rather than things. An expanding line up of ceramic tiles will include mosaic back-splashes and table tops.  I am hoping to offer custom pieces made to order.
Farmer's Daughters

Magic Light Photography
I am planning on being at the market this weekend, weather permitting.  Once again I will have a selection of my nature and wildlife photography available as matted prints ready for framing as well as greeting cards.  All of my cards are blank inside so they can be used for any occasion.  You still have time before Father's Day to pick up a special card of print for dad!  I will also have an 11x17 poster of my most popular photograph, Bucky's Twins.  I'm no longer making photographic prints of this image so this is the next best way to get an enlarged copy of this photo at an affordable price and printed locally!  My photos don't handle moister very well so I won't be at the market if there is rain in the forecast.  When I'm not at the market my cards are always available at the Mineral Point Collection located at 151 High Street.  I'm hoping that my schedule will allow me to be at the market a bit more often this year so I hope to see you under the water tower!  You can also view my work at www.magiclightphotography.com.   Thanks, Mike

Hi All!   It certainly is a steamy Tues....I am very thankful for air-conditioning. As you will recall, I do not do heat well at all.  At this time, it sounds like Sat. will not be a day that the dolls and I will be at Market.  Possibly rain in the a.m. which we certainly can use.  So unless things change dramatically, I will not be at Market this Sat. June 17 but will plan for the next week.  I will have an update, of course, as time gets closer.  So for now,   Keep Cool  and Keep Smiling!  Mummu

June 10th - Week 6

Hello MP Market Goers!

Well, we've finally had some drying out weather. Both farmers and gardeners alike are celebrating. Most of the planting has been completed and now the weeds can stop growing so profusely. In addition, can you believe the forecast? They are calling for 90 degrees next week, wow! Things are heating up fast! That heat will bring a quick progression to summer items at market. Items like strawberries and cucumbers will be making a first appearance this week. The bees at the Patch are busy pollinating our sugar snap peas which means in just another one to two weeks they'll also be at market. And so the season goes. We hope you enjoy all the season's offerings at the Mineral Point Market!
Don't forget to sign up this week for your chance to win our market basket giveaway!

Here is a partial list of items at this week's market: Beef, Pork, Bacon, Chicken, Cheese, Eggs, Beets, Swiss Chard, Scallions, Green Garlic, Kohlrabi, Spinach, Salad Mix, Arugula, Lettuce, Radishes, Salad Turnips, Curly and Lacinato Kale, Cilantro, Basil tops, Tarragon, Oregano, Cucumbers, Strawberries, Asparagus, Asparagus Soup, Dilly Beans, Honey, Maple Syrup, Cards, Perennials, Scones, Muffins, Cookies, Bars, Salsa, Jams & Jellies, BBQ Sauce, Relish, Fresh Flowers and much more. Magic Light Photography
I will NOT be at market this weekend.  When I'm back next week I will have a selection of my nature and wildlife photography available as matted prints ready for framing as well as greeting cards.  All of my cards are blank inside so they can be used for any occasion.  Graduation,  and Father's Day are all coming up!
Marr's Valley View Farms
It's now June Dairy Month so let's celebrate by heading over to "The Cheese & Burger Society" website for some of the best and most unusual ways to pair Marr's Valley View Farms burger with your favorite Wisconsin Cheese. Or why not live a little on the edge and try a recipe - it may become your new fav like 'The Atlanta'. Buy Hook's Aged Cheddar and Havarti, Marr's Valley View Farms burger and Pepper Bacon and you are well on your way to delicious!
4th of July is literally just around the corner. We are fully stocked with ground beef patties, wieners and bratwurst for your holiday cookout! And of course, Tenderloin, New York Strip, Ribeye and Top Sirloin are irresistible on the grill. Feeding extra-hungry mouths - go for the "meal on it's own" Porterhouse or T-Bone steak. If you are like us, you are a lover of weekend family breakfasts that include bacon, pork sausage and ham steak. Bone in and Boneless Butterflied Pork Chops are great grilling companions to our beef products. Even though it is summer we have all varieties of Beef and Pork Roasts and on hand - all of which are great on the grill. Our Stew Meat makes the perfect shish-ka-bob meat. Or how about some Beef Short Ribs and Pork Spare Ribs "falling-off-the-bone" slow cooked and covered in your favorite dry rub or BBQ sauce. If you are in need of a large quantity please place your order in advance and we will have it all ready for you to pick up at the Market. When you dine on Marr's Valley View Farms meats, rest assured you are eating naturally lean meats - fresh beef and pork products direct from a local farm to you. The only stop in-between is our State inspected processing facility. If you need a large quantity - send an e-mail to federman@charter.net or call 608-574-2899 by Friday evening and we will have your order ready for pick-up at the market. We encourage you to come to market early for the best selection. Thanks for your continued support and we look forward to servicing your needs throughout 2017. All of us at Marr's Valley View Farms.

Mummu's Makeovers aka Susan Marr
Hi Alll!  If you weren't at the Iowa County Dairy Breakfast last Sat. you missed something very special!  The food was fantastic and the activities were unending!  Giada had a super time (at one point telling me, "Mummu, this is the BEST day EVER!  I've never had ice cream AND cake for breakfast before!!")  We had a great time and Thank You to all of the participating  dairy farmers!  Our hats are off to you!  Well, the weather looks like it will be cooperating this Sat. June 10 so I do plan to be at Market.  (One forecast does say "breezy"......now 25 mph is NOT breezy to me so we will have to see what it actually is.)  If you are there and I am, too, be sure to stop by and say "Hi" and chat a bit as you look over the new clothes for the dolls.  Keep Smiling!    Mummu
P.S.  Don't forget to support your local dairy farmers!!
Scrappin With Joni

Shooting Star Farm
It’s been a busy week trying to get the last of our long-season crops in the ground. Tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, Brussel sprouts, winter squash, and cucumbers are all finally in. It’s been dry, but at least we have a decent irrigation system set up to help out Mother Nature. The dry weather has given us a chance to get caught up on hoeing, so the fields look good. Lots of great produce this week: bunched beets, Swiss chard, scallions, green garlic, kohlrabi, spinach (plenty!), salad mix, arugula, gorgeous lettuces, radishes, salad turnips (from the field with smaller tops and roots; still sweet and juicy), curly and lacinato kale, cilantro, basil tops, tarragon, oregano, and a few cucumbers! (the first few from our hoophouse. Many more next week).  See you Saturday! Rink, Jenny, and Charlie
Sweet Earth Garden
Sweet Earth Gardens will be at the market on Saturday.  We will have Lupines, Siberian Iris, Peonies and Spiderwort and Iris,  Sounds like a toasty, beautiful day.

June 3rd - Week 5

Hello MP Market Goers!

June is here, kids are getting out of school, schedules are freeing up. Well, maybe not that. Our schedule is getting fuller by the minute. The market is getting fuller by the week too. As things progress in the fields new vendors are arriving with their products. Be sure to stop up and check it all out. In another week or two we'll see another shift at market from spring crops to summer crops. But in the meantime, be sure to stock up on what's in season now and if you can put some away in your freezer for later cravings or in the fridge for your little ones home for summer.

Here is a partial list of items at this week's market: Beef, Pork, Bacon, Eggs, Scallions, Beets, Kohlrabi, Lettuces, Salad Mix, Arugula, Salad Turnips, Green Garlic, Spinach, Oregano, Tarragon, Radishes, Asparagus, Asparagus Soup, Dilly Beans, Honey, Maple Syrup, Stone Ground Flour, Cornmeal, Cards, Gift Boxes, Perennials, Scones, Muffins, Cookies, Cakes, Bars, Salsa, Jams & Jellies, BBQ Sauce, Relish, Coffee, and much more.   Come and check it all out!

We look forward to seeing you this Saturday morning at Water Tower Park, Business Hwy 151 at Madison Street, Mineral Point! 8:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Farmer's Daughters
Hello friends! We hope you all had a great unofficial start to summer! We were hoping to, but farming sometimes can be a buggar. Our hopes of getting in the field were dampened by a broken truck and tractor. So much for that.... So we decided to enjoy the weekend. This week in between fixing, we'll be baking fresh for you: muffins, scones, bars, ......bread...... yes, bread! Apple Cinnamon muffin bread, banana bread and a couple more varieties of raised yeast bread. Some using Meadowlark Organics' Rye Flour.  I'm excited to give it a try!! I hope to see you Saturday!!

Mummu's Makeovers aka Susan Marr
Hi All!  It is a beautiful day and I'm spending time working in the yard instead of at my sewing machine.  But that's ok as I will not be at Market this Sat. June 3.  It is Dairy Days Breakfast day and I plan to bring Giada (and hopefully Haydn, too) to enjoy some fantastic food and spend some time on the farm.  It's important for them to know where their food comes from.  But I do plan to be at Market on June 10 so if you are there, too, do stop by and say "Hi" and chat a bit.  I will have an update for you next week as I have no idea right now what the weather may be.  Till then..... Keep Smiling!   Mummu     P.S.  Remember to thank our dairy farmers when you see them for the great things they do for us and don't forget to support them every chance you can!!
Scrappin With Joni
Weather will determine whether I am at market this Saturday.    June is the month we honor dads, and grads.  I will have handmade cards and gift boxes for each of these events.   My table will also have cards for all occasions; birthdays, anniversaries, new babies, get well, sympathy.   Sending a handmade card is a great way to say “I care”.   Follow my Facebook page Scrappin with Joni to see some of the product I will have at the market.  I look forward to seeing you at the Mineral Point Market, stop by and say hi.  I will be under the red canopy.
Shooting Star Farm
Looks like we’ll have another beautiful day this Saturday – warm with rain after Market. Just the way we like it! Our lineup looks much the same as last week, with the addition of scallions and possibly a new crop of bok choy from the field. In addition, we’ll have bunched beets, kohlrabi (limited), beautiful lettuces of all sizes, shapes, and colors, salad mix, arugula, salad turnips, green garlic, spinach, oregano, tarragon, and radishes. We are done with tomato plants for the season. If you planted yours and they’re looking a bit rough, this warm weather should help them settle in and green up. See you Saturday! Rink, Jenny, and Charlie.

Sweet Earth Gardens will NOT be at the market this week.  Be back next week with more beautiful flowers fresh for your dining room table.
