Bures Berry Patch
It's Memorial Day weekend! Thank you to all who've served and continue to do so. Asparagus is coming in strong this week and is great on the grill! Plus the strawberries are starting to set fruit, looks like that season will begin sometime between June 10th and June 20th. This week at market we will have farm fresh eggs, asparagus, rhubarb, pure maple syrup, local honey, and dilly beans. For more info about the Patch check out our websiteFacebook page, or sign up for our e-newsletter. We hope to see you in the Patch or at market soon! Kathy, Ed, Abby, and Ben
Carey's Greenhouse
I'll pretty much have the same things I had last week...cool damp weather means that a lot of stuff is a week or so behind. Its big, but not blooming.  I'll have hostas, lilacs, lily-of-the-valley, snow-on-the-mountain, ferns, violets, and day-lilies.
Chestnut Hill Studio
Prints and cards from my original watercolor and colored pencil drawings include old favorites and some new.  I am exploring sky and water this year and focusing on places rather than things. An expanding line up of ceramic tiles will include mosaic back-splashes and table tops.  I am hoping to offer custom pieces made to order.
Comforters Corner Crate Company
Comforters Corner Crate Company upcycles used pallets into sturdy crates of all sizes for decorating and organization around your home.  Each crate is made by local woodworking artisan Stephen Troester, with personalized messages and stain/paint options provided by his wife Hilary.
Farmer's Daughters
Hello all you ducklings! Seems to be that's the weather pattern as of late! The rye is baled and wrapped and the cows are eyeballing the first crop on their way to pasture. Hopefully the weather straightens out and we'll get it put up before the end of next week. This week we'll be baking fresh for you: muffins, scones, possibly some raised bread, (dependent on the weather), cookies, cherry lime cake (because it sounds good!) and more! I hope to see you Saturday! Also don't forget, if you have a request of something you haven't had or can't find, let us know!
Happy Hunter Farms
Hi market friends!  Our beloved apple butter is back!  We will have a wide array of homemade canned goods, ranging from soups to BBQ sauces, salsa, relishes, and many jams and jellies.  We look forward to seeing everyone!
James Pine Valley Farm
This week I will have whole chickens, half chicken packages, breast quarter packages and leg/thigh packages.  Also I will have several varieties of cheese from Hooks Cheese Company and Brunkow Cheese Company, and lots of eggs.  Hope to see you on Saturday.

Magic Light Photography
I am planning on being at the market this weekend, weather permitting.  Once again I will have a selection of my nature and wildlife photography available as matted prints ready for framing as well as greeting cards.  All of my cards are blank inside so they can be used for any occasion.  Graduation,  and Father's Day are all coming up!  I will also have an 11x17 poster of my most popular photograph, Bucky's Twins.  I'm no longer making photographic prints of this image so this is the next best way to get an enlarged copy of this photo at an affordable price and printed locally!  My photos don't handle moister very well so I won't be at the market if there is rain in the forecast.  When I'm not at the market my cards are always available at the Mineral Point Collection located at 151 High Street.  I'm hoping that my schedule will allow me to be at the market a bit more often this year so I hope to see you under the water tower!  You can also view my work at www.magiclightphotography.com.   Thanks, Mike
Marr's Valley View Farms
We will have our full beef and pork product line available for purchase this week. Everything from ground meats to top of the line steaks to bacon will be there for you.
We've been busy working to enhance our meat product lines and servicing new wholesale accounts that have kept things hopping throughout the winter months. Our Farm Connection Meat CSA returned in February. If you find you can't live without our meats but getting to market weekly is a challenge then join our "meat CSA" - ask us for details at Market.
Need a large quantity or can't make it to market Saturday morning - please call, 608-987-2097, and we will make other arrangements for your order. We encourage you to pre-order or come to market early for the best selection. Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you and servicing your needs throughout 2017.
All of us at Marr's Valley View Farms.

Hi All!  It's another rainy Wed. but I am thinking positive for Market this Sat. May 27.  I do plan to be there, weather permitting, with LOTS of new items and hopefully a couple of dolls for sale as well (that is a little "ify" at this time).  I'm just having too much fun with new fabrics, new ideas and my sewing machine!!  So I do hope to see you there on Sat.  Do stop by and say "Hi" and chat a bit as you look over the new (and familiar) items.  Till then, Keep Smiling!   Mummu

Shooting Star Farm
Thanks everyone who braved the cold, wet weather to attend the Market last weekend! We’ve put in an order for a nicer Saturday this week, so come up to the park and stock up on Memorial weekend goodies. With this wet, chilly weather our crops are no longer ahead of schedule for the season. But the hoophouse is still cranking out some goodies. We will have a limited supply of bunched beets (in May – can you believe it?!). We transplanted them back in March and they are sizing up nicely. Also new this week is kohlrabi (standard size - not our giant variety), and a fresh crop of spinach from the field. Green garlic it ready, too. It won’t be around long. Use the whole plant in soups, pesto, or any way you might use garlic. The salad turnips are getting bigger and they are sweet, solid, and delicious as ever (still from the hoophouse). Red and French breakfast radishes are being harvested from the fields, as are heads of lettuce, salad mix, and arugula. We’ll also bring along some herbs: cilantro, tarragon, and oregano. See you Saturday! Rink, Jenny, and Charlie.
Sweet Earth Garden
Sweet Earth Gardens will be at the market this week.  We will have Alliums, Iris, Bleeding Hearts, Daisies, Lupines and Phlox.  Should be a beautiful day-see you there.

Here is a list of the unconfirmed vendors that may or may not be at market this week:

Byrant Family Farms
Evelyn's Gardens
Helianthus Farm
Lacey's Lathers Goat Milk Soaps and Lotions
Platteville Sunflower Oil Company
Tyroll Forge & Tool

5/20/17 - Week 3

Hello MP Market Goers!

Congratulations Deron, our winner of last week's market basket giveaway! He'll be going home this Saturday with a load of wonderful products from the Mineral Point Market.

Saturday's forecast doesn't seem all that great, but the Mineral Point Market goes on rain or shine. Which means that unless there's lightening our vendors will be there with the products you'll need for the upcoming week. Occasionally, there will be a vendor or two whose product can not withstand certain types of weather but the majority of our vendors will still be at market every Saturday morning. The only difference, some days they'll have their tents up and some days they won't bother.

Here is a partial list of items at this week's market: Beef, Pork, Bacon, Chicken, Turkey, Rabbit, Duck, Goose, Eggs, Cheese, Salad Mix, Baby Arugula, Spinach, Radishes, Salad Turnips, Curly Kale, Dinosaur Kale, Bok Choy, Leaf & Butter Lettuces, Gem Romaine, Cilantro, Tarragon, Oregano, Asparagus, Rhubarb, Dilly Beans, Maple Syrup, Wildlife Prints, Cards, Gift Boxes, Perennials, Tomato Plants, Scones, Muffins, Cookies, Cakes, Bars, Salsa, Jams & Jellies, BBQ Sauce, Relish, and much more.   Come and check it all out!

We look forward to seeing you this Saturday morning at Water Tower Park, Business Hwy 151 at Madison Street, Mineral Point! 8:30 to 11:00 a.m.

There are storms brewing as I write this, and possibly rain on Saturday. However, we will be there (barring any lightening), so come get your veggies! This week we’ll have many of the same items as last, plus a few new ones. Here’s the list: salad mix (lots), baby arugula, spinach (limited amount), radishes, salad turnips (yummy and plentiful!), curly kale, lacinato (dinosaur) kale, bok choy, big heads of leaf and butter lettuces, gorgeous medium-sized heads of lettuce – including little gem romaine, cilantro, tarragon, oregano, and more tomato plants. We have been having issues with our rhubarb patch. It’s always been super productive (for over 18 years!), but this year something is up. We are speculating that excessive rain/wet last fall may have caused some root issues. We’re hoping it’s just delayed, but stalks aren’t sizing up. If anyone has any clues, please let us know! See you Saturday, and bring your umbrella! Rink, Jenny, and Charlie.

Tyroll Forge & Tool
We're pleased to return for our second season at the Mineral Point Farmer’s Market. What a vibrant nexus of makers, producers, growers and consumers!   Blacksmith Generik Broderick has been busy at the house forge across the fall and winter, generating useful Artisan hooks, cleanly hand forged in 1/4" round stock and featuring the celebrated penny end scroll.  This medium requires an extra degree of care from the blacksmith to avoid distracting hammer marks and surface marring. Behold the happy hooks.
The Hook of the Week is our Emmanuel Branch Hook.   This branch hook was conceived to fulfill a need for a dependable and attractive hanger for bird houses and feeders.  This is no mere utilitarian hook.  Birds are beautiful. Bird houses are unique.  Why not feature a classy art piece to showcase your birdy habitat and home landscape?   Birds respond to color, and our research shows they gravitate to classical art forms.
Stop by for shoptalk with Generik and his wife Jen.  We welcome questions and suggestions and are eager to share our insights on artisanal ironwork, classical design, and reviving the manufacturing sector locally.
Why Emmanuel?

Magic Light Photography
Welcome back to what is sure to be another great year at the Market!  I am planning on being at the market this weekend, weather permitting.  Once again I will have a selection of my nature and wildlife photography available as matted prints ready for framing as well as greeting cards.  All of my cards are blank inside so they can be used for any occasion.  Graduation, Mother's Day and Father's Day are all coming up!
Welcome back everyone! It's been a while since we have seen many of you and are looking forward to Saturday.
Matchbook Magnets
Hello market-goers!  I'm thrilled to be back again this year with my magnets made from vintage matchbook cover images.  I may not be vending in May due to other commitments, but will update the newsletter if that changes. Otherwise my first market will be June 3, and I've been busy making new magnets to add to the existing line-up!  I'm looking forward to seeing you all then.   matchbookmagnets@yahoo.com   Cindy

Mummu's Makeovers aka Susan Marr
It's been a long winter and I am very much looking forward to being part of Mineral Point Market again this year.  The dolls and I have been busy making and modeling lots of new things as well as many of the old favorites.  I will be planning to be there each week, but as usual, it will be weather permitting.  The dolls still don't like to be wet or cold or blown around the park in the wind so these will be the main reasons we may not be there.  For anyone that does not know who I am, I'm Susan Marr  aka Mummu (Finnish for Grandma) and I make clothes for 18" dolls (American Girl size).  I've been able to participate in Market for a few years and have gotten to know many of the young ladies (and their dolls!) in the area and I do hope to see you all again soon!  Until then....Keep Smiling!!  Mummu
Scrappin With Joni
I am excited to be back at Mineral Point Market.  May is the month we honor moms, dads, and grads.  I will have handmade cards and gift boxes for each of these events.   My table will also have cards for all occasions; birthdays, anniversaries, new babies, get well, sympathy.   Sending a handmade card is a great way to say “I care”.   Follow my Facebook page Scrappin with Joni to see some of the product I will have at the market.  I look forward to seeing you at the Mineral Point Market, stop by and say hi.  I will be under the red canopy.
Shooting Star Farm
Let the Market season begin! It has been a wacky spring for us. Overwintered hoophouse spinach came way too early and is already gone. Overwintered field spinach started growing in February but got wiped out by several nights of fierce winds and single digit temperatures. We got in the fields on time and everything seemed early, but now it’s slowed down a bit.
Enough with the weather report! We will have vegetables for the first Market from our hoophouse: red and French breakfast radishes, heads of baby romaine and leaf lettuces, a bit of salad mix, baby bok choy, possibly cilantro, and some bunches of red Russian kale which survived the winter. A new crop of spinach is close behind (a “maybe” for this weekend). It looks to be a lovely spring weekend, so stop by for some coffee, say hello, and hang out for a while! See you Saturday, Rink, Jenny, and Charlie.

Sweet  Earth Garden will be at the market this week with Spring flowers.  Looking forward seeing you all again.
