Magic Light Photography
It's been a couple of weeks since I have been at the market, but I'm planning on being back this week, weather permitting.  I will have a large selection of my nature and wildlife prints, cards, and bookmarks, along with a book featuring over 80 of my favorite photos.  All of my cards are blank inside so they can be used for any occasion.  NEW this week will be an 11x17 poster of my most popular photograph, Bucky's Twins.  I'm no longer making photographic prints of this image so this is the next best way to get an enlarged copy of this image at an affordable price.  My photos don't handle moister very well so I won't be at the market if there is rain in the forecast.  When I'm not at the market my cards are always available at the Mineral Point Collection located on High Street.  You can also view my work at www.magiclightphotography.com.   Thanks, Mike
Marr's Vlley View Farms
This gorgeous weather keeps us thinking about summer and grilling.  One of our favorite places to find burger recipes is on WI Milk Marketing Board's Cheese and Burger Society website - not only are the recipes highly creative and use everything but the kitchen sink, the website itself is quite entertaining - make sure your volume is turned up when you logon  - http://www.cheeseandburger.com/.  Here's a direct link to one of our favorites - Horseradish Cheddar Burger.
Of course the burgers will be the best when using Marr's Valley View Farms ground beef, ground chuck or ground round.  We will have plenty of each at Market this week along with our full line of Black Angus Beef cuts and flavorful Pork products.  When you dine on Marr's Valley View Farms meats, rest assured you are eating naturally lean meats - fresh beef and pork products direct from a local farm to you. If you need a large quantity send an e-mail to federman@charter.net or call 608-574-2899 by Thursday evening and we will have your order ready for pick-up at the market. See you Saturday! All of us at Marr's Valley View Farms.
Matchbook Magnets
It should be a beautiful fall day on Saturday, and I'm so excited to be back with my hand-crafted magnets made with images from vintage matchbook covers.  It's not too early to start shopping for the holidays, so stop by a take a look!  I have magnets that appeal to all ages and cover a wide variety of subjects.  They are great for stocking stuffers or as a special surprise with a card.  See you Saturday!  matchbookmagnets@yahoo.com  Cindy
Mummu's Makeovers aka Susan Marr
Hi All!  Another beautiful day in SW Wis.  I hope it holds out for Market on Sat.  I am planning to be there, weather permitting.  I did find out a couple of weeks ago that the dolls don't especially like being outside on damp days, either, not just rainy ones.  Plus my house looked like a Chinese laundry the rest of the day as all of the clothes had to be spread out to make sure the dampness was gone. So I will be more careful with watching the weather!  I have been very busy getting ready for Christmas shopping so if you or I can't be there on Sat., do call me at 623-2592 and I would love to have you come to my house in Cobb to shop!  You can even bring the dolls along to try things on!  Hopefully I'll see you all at Market so stop by and say "Hi" and visit a bit as you check out the new things!!  Mummu
Queen Bee Acres
Sorry to have missed Market last week, we are looking forward to being back this week with our new crop of honey. Honey harvest went well this years with a few unexpected set backs.  Beeswax will not be available until next week and creamed honey will not be set for two weeks. See you Saturday morning! Pete and Fran Demo, Keepers of the Bees; www.queenbeeacres.com
Shooting Star Farm
Checking our records, I’ve discovered that we’ve had just over 9-inches of rain from August 29th to September 19th. That’s a lot of rain in three weeks. The rainfall didn’t do much damage to crops, but rain coupled with the high temperatures over labor day week, and some strong winds last week resulted in a bit of rotting and shredding of tender greens like spinach, arugula, and lettuce. Some of the crops have recovered, so we should have a nice supply of lettuce for  this weekend. Spinach is unlikely. Two plantings will yield almost nothing. Hopefully more by mid-late October. We still have a few summer crops like roma and saladette tomatoes, eggplants and peppers. But we’re quickly moving over to roots and fall crops: beets, celery and celery root, radishes, salad turnips, carrots, green and red cabbage, napa cabbage, bok choy, fennel,  leeks, onions, garlic, Swiss chard, kale, endive, escarole, chicory, salad greens, and hopefully more broccoli.  Looks like a gorgeous weekend ahead! See you Saturday! Rink, Jenny, and Charlie.
Sweet Earth Gardens
I am happy to say i will be back at the Market this week.  We will have delphiniums, dahias, sunflowers, zinnias, alliums, gladiolas and more hope to see you there. Barbara
Tippy Top Orchard
Mike from Tippy Top will have a nice selection of organic apples, pears, and Asian pears.

Here is a list of the unconfirmed vendors that may or may not be at market this week:

September 19th - Week 21

Hello MP Market Goers!

Congratulations goes to Michael Smith for winning last week's market basket drawing! Your last chance to win this market season is coming up on October 10th!

The colors of fall are starting to appear at market and in the fields. Corn silage is in full harvest mode and it won't be long until the soybeans start to be harvested. Plus I've seen a few trees here and there starting to show some beautiful colors. I love fall! The temperatures are much more manageable, the colors are beautiful, and the smells. Nothing beats the smell of a fresh pie from the oven! Now for me, well I'm partial to raspberry but I also make a delicious apple pie. Here are my two favorite recipes! Enjoy and have a wonderful weekend enjoying fall in Mineral Point!

Bures Berry Patch Raspberry Pie

Magic Light Photography
I will not be at the market on this week as I will be displaying my work at the Driftless Area Art Festival in Soldiers Grove WI.  This will be the biggest display of my collection of photographs so far this year!  Of all of the art fairs that I have been apart of over the years, this is by far the best!  There is great local food, and live music all weekend long and the weather is looking perfect so far!  It is well worth a drive on a fall weekend after you stock up at the market.  The apple orchards in Gays Mills will be in full swing and are always a fun place to take the family so you can make a whole day of your drive.  The art fair is open from 10-5 on Saturday, and 10-4 on Sunday.  For more info on the Driftless Area Art Festival you can visit: http://driftlessareaartfestival.com.  Hope to see you there!  I am planning on being back at the market on 26th.

Hi All!  Another beautiful day (week?) in SW Wis. Shooting Star Farm
Fall is really underway here, even if the temperatures say otherwise. We still have some summer crops, but they are quickly dwindling as the days get shorter and they run out of steam from producing all summer. New this week will be a small crop of broccoli (the first of the fall with more to come). Radishes should also be ready for harvesting. I know many of you have been waiting patiently for these! Other new fall crops include cabbage, kale, carrots,  fennel, leeks, garlic, bok choy, napa cabbage, celery, and celeriac (a.k.a celery root). Head lettuce is a bit limited this week, but we should have a good amount of salad mix and arugula. Also look for beets, Swiss chard, green and colorful peppers, tomatillos, onions, cilantro, and parsley. Very few red slicing tomatoes are available as that crop was done in early by rain storms and disease. However, we still have cherry tomatoes, heirloom tomatoes, orange and red saladette tomatoes, and lots of roma tomatoes (it’s time to do some canning!). See you Saturday! Rink, Jenny, and Charlie

Sweet Earth Gardens
Sweet Earth gardens will not be at the market this week but will see you at the last weekend of September.  Barbara

Mike from Tippy Top will be at market this week. He'll have pears and apples!

With the last holiday of Summer now in the rearview mirror, I was feeling a little blah so decided to peruse the internet highway for new and slightly out in left field recipes to use our bacon with.  As you might suspect, there were a zillion out there but I have to say this one topped the list!  I haven't tried it yet but when I do it's going to be with our Maple Bacon:

Hi All!  Isn't this a lovely change in weather??! Some of the trees are starting to turn already......a sure sign of things to come.  I will NOT be at Market this Sat. as I'm going to Ferryville, WI for a craft show at Sugar Creek Bible Camp.  It's in conjunction with their annual quilt and antique auction so it should be fun! If you're thinking of a little road trip on Sat., come on over and join our festivities!  (Ferryville is a little north of Prairie du Chien).   I do have lots of new things again so if you would like to come to my house in Cobb to shop, just give me a call at 623-2592 and we can set up a time to do that.  Hope you all have a great day at Market!  I'll be thinking of you!   See you on Sept. 19th.      Mummu
Pointer Pantry
was originally inspired by a couple of Facebook posts where regular people stepped up to help someone in a pinch, paying for a snack at Kwik Trip for two kids short on change, buying a homeless man a cup of coffee.
Knowing that summer can be a tough time for some kids when school lunches aren't available, it seemed there had to be a way to help them out.
A few phone calls, Facebook posts, text messages and only days later, Pointer Pantry was born.
One person after another said, "I can do that!" This can-do attitude, many would say you'll only find in Mineral Point, is allowing us to solve a big problem for Mineral Point kids in a really simple way.
Stop by the Pointer Pantry booth on Saturday for more info!
If you're on Facebook, be sure to join Pointer Pantry to keep up-to-date on volunteer opportunities.  If you're not on Facebook, you may contact Mo May Grimm at 608-574-3555.

Shooting Star Farm
We are glad to finally have some relief from the heat and humidity of the past week or so. What a strange few weeks: first temperatures in the 60’s, then upper 80’s, and now back to 60’s. The fall crops are happy for some cooler weather, too. We’ll have a new crop of green and red cabbage this week, as well as some napa cabbage, bok choy, a bit of kohlrabi (the big kind), and new crop of kale. Carrots should be ready for Saturday, too. Summer crops are still abundant. September is the month for red and orange sweet peppers and eggplant, and we still have some watermelons ready to pick. On the other hand, tomatoes are finally on the downswing, but we’ll continue to have some heirlooms, cherry and salad-size tomatoes, and lots of romas. Other items on the table this week: green beans (last of the season – not many), cucumbers, green bell peppers, salad mix, romaine and red leaf lettuce, escarole, collards, arugula, beets, onions (red, yellow, and Italian bottle), Swiss chard, celery, parsley, cilantro, basil, and possibly some radishes and salad turnips. See you Saturday! Rink, Jenny, and Charlie
Sweet Earth Gardens
Sweet Earth gardens will not be at the market the next 2 weeks-but will see you at the last weekend of September. Barbara
Tippy Top Orchard
Mike from Tippy Top may or may not be at market this week. He’s hoping the new crops of pears ripen in time, but they may take one more week. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Magic Light Photography
I am planning on being back at the market once again with a large selection of my nature and wildlife prints and cards, along with a book featuring almost 80 of my favorite photos.  All of my cards are blank inside so they can be used for any occasion.  If the delivery guy gets here in time, I will have 3 new metal prints on display.  One is of the newly painted "Thank You Farmers" barn between Mineral Point and Dodgeville.  Another is of the sunflower field on HWY 23 just north of Dodgeville, and the other is of this years 4th of July fireworks in Mineral Point.  My photos don't handle moister very well so I won't be at the market if there is rain in the forecast.  When I'm not at the market my cards are always available at the Mineral Point Collection located on High Street.  You can also view my work at www.magiclightphotography.com.  My website has been long overdue for an update, and I finally had some time to work on it over the last couple of weeks.  The wildlife and scenic galleries have both been updated with a fresh new look and lots of new photographs.  The galleries are even viewable on mobile devices now!  See you Saturday! Thanks, Mike
Marr's Valley View Farms
Ahhhhh - the final days of August are past - the "dog days of summer" arrived just in time for school to begin and the Iowa County Fair.  Yes - Labor Day weekend is here with plenty of opportunities to cook your favorites meats.  We are fully stocked with ground beef patties, hot dogs and bratwurst for your grill. Ribeyes, New York Strips and Tenderloin are in stock but don't wait to get yours - we have a minimal quantity - they tend to fly out the door!  And of course, Porterhouse, T-Bone and Top Sirloin are irresistible on the grill.  Bone In Pork Chops are great grilling companions to our beef products.  If you are like us, you are a lover of weekend family breakfasts that include bacon and pork sausage.  Even though it is summer we have all varieties of Beef and Pork Roasts and on hand. Our Stew Meat makes the perfect shish-ka-bob meat. Or how about some Beef Short Ribs and Pork Spare Ribs "falling-off-the-bone" slow cooked and covered in your favorite bbq sauce.  If you are in need of a large quantity please place your order in advance and we will have it all ready for you to pick up at the Market. When you dine on Marr's Valley View Farms meats, rest assured you are eating naturally lean meats - fresh beef and pork products direct from a local farm to you.  If you need a large quantity - send an e-mail to federman@charter.net or call 608-574-2899 by Thursday evening and we will have your order ready for pick-up at the market. Mummu's Makeovers aka Susan Marr
Hi All!  Summer is back with a vengeance and you all know what that does to me (and, may I say, it's not pretty!).  I had such fun spending my last week with Giada b/4 school starts and actually did get to my machine for awhile as she wanted to use some of her "fwabics", too.  I am planning to be at Market on Sat. but I can't guarantee much enthusiasm as heat and humidity are NOT my friends.  But I am so anxious to show all of the new things for your dolls. I'm working on winter pj's and nitegowns, fall dresses, and beginning to build the sports inventory  for the season.....Packers, Badgers, Pointers and even some Bears sets.    I know, I know....but we have so many visitors from the Chicago area now and I don't want to leave them out.  So I am very much looking forward to seeing you all on Sat. but if you or I can't make it to Market, remember I'm only a phone call away at 623-2592.  You're always welcome to come to my house in Cobb to shop.  Keep cool!!

Roma tomato season is here! We’ll have lots of roma (a.k.a. paste) tomatoes at market this week. They are great for making salsa, canning, or making quick and fresh pasta sauce.  Though meaty, they have enough juice for good flavor when eaten fresh, too. We’ll also have lots of delicious saladette tomatoes, heirlooms, and cherry tomatoes. Other veggies on the table this week: eggplant, peppers, onions,  green beans, scallions, leeks, green cabbage, kale, Swiss chard, salad mix, arugula, lettuces, summer squash, cucumbers, beets, tomatillos, cilantro, dill, basil, and some cantaloupe and water melons.  See you Saturday! Rink, Jenny, and Charlie.
Sweet Earth Gardens
Sweet Earth gardens will be at the market this week. We will have gladiolas, delphiniums, sunflowers, dahlias, alliums, zinnias, hydrangeas.  Looking forward to seeing you.  Barbara
Tippy Top Orchard
Mike from Tippy Top may or may not be at market this week. He’s hoping the new crops of pears ripen in time, but they may take one more week. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Here is a list of the unconfirmed vendors that may or may not be at market this week:
