Hello all! Thank you for such a great time last weekend! The water is done rising, but so far is just standing still. None of our crops suffered, but it sure makes getting around interesting with so many roads still closed. This week we'll be baking fresh for you: muffins, scones, breads, bars, cookies and more! Hope to see you Saturday!
Happy Hunter Farms
Hi market friends!  We might not be at market this Saturday with our wide array of homemade canned goods, ranging from soups to BBQ sauces, salsa, relishes, and many jams and jellies.  We look forward to seeing everyone if not this weekend, next!

Magic Light Photography
I will NOT be at market this weekend.  I am planning on being back on August 5th with a selection of my nature and wildlife photography available as matted prints ready for framing as well as greeting cards.  All of my cards are blank inside so they can be used for any occasion.  I will also have an 11x17 poster of my most popular photograph, Bucky's Twins.  I'm no longer making photographic prints of this image so this is the next best way to get an enlarged copy of this photo at an affordable price and printed locally!  My photos don't handle moister very well so I won't be at the market if there is rain in the forecast.  When I'm not at the market my cards are always available at the Mineral Point Collection located at 151 High Street.  I'm hoping that my schedule will allow me to be at the market a bit more often this year so I hope to see you under the water tower!  You can also view my work at www.magiclightphotography.com.   Thanks, Mike

Mummu's Makeovers aka Susan Marr
Hi All!  It must be Wed. as it's raining and storms are predicted.......but it does seem that the weather should be great this Sat. July 29 so I will be at Market.  I think a sale would be good, right???  So let's go with any three $10.00 items for $25.00.  That seemed to go well last summer.  A good way to get extra summer outfits for the dolls...remembering we still have lots of summer left.  Do spread the word so your friends can take advantage of the sale, too!   So I hope to see you at Market.  Do stop by and say "Hi" and take advantage of the Summer Savings Sale!!  Keep Smiling!    Mummu
Scrappin' With Joni
I am so excited to be back at market this Saturday.    My table will have cards for all occasions; birthdays, anniversaries, new babies, get well, sympathy.   Sending a handmade card is a great way to say “I care”.   Follow my Facebook page Scrappin' with Joni to see some of the product I will have at the market.  I look forward to seeing you at the Mineral Point Market, stop by and say hi.  Look for me under the red canopy.
Shooting Star Farm
Heat and wet do not make a good combination for growing food, unless you’re growing tropical fruit! Fortunately our  fields are still looking fine. We didn’t entirely escape damage from last week’s storms, but we are lucky to have high land with reasonably well-drained soil. Now that it’s dried out somewhat, we will have beans! More than last week and probably our biggest harvest of the summer. Plan to make your favorite green bean recipes this weekend. More red tomatoes, heirloom tomatoes, and cherry tomatoes, too. They are well protected in the hoophouse and look great. Green bell peppers will be in short supply this year due to some seed germination issues, but we do have lots of green Italian frying peppers which substitute well for bell peppers. More items this week include beets, eggplant, kale, Swiss chard, salad mix and baby arugula, fresh white onions and fresh Italian bottle onions, fennel, leeks, cucumbers, dill, and  basil. Very little head lettuce this week. See you Saturday! Rink, Jenny, and Charlie
Sweet Earth Garden
Sweet Earth Gardens will be at the market this week with Hydrangeas, Zinnias, Coneflowers, Dahlias, Rudbeckia, Daisies, Geberas and liatris.
Tryol Forge & Tool
We won't be at market this week. Be back soon with our handcrafted hooks.

Here is a list of the unconfirmed vendors that may or may not be at market this week:

July 22nd - Week 12

Hello MP Market Goers!

Okay so our waterways last week easily handled the 2" of rain that needed draining in our valley. Last night however we got over 6" of rain! Definitely more than they were able to handle. We've heard many reports of trees down and power out. We sincerely hope that all of you made it through with little to no damage.

Farmers have to weather a lot of extreme conditions to make it in the end. Last night our crops took quite a beating from all the rain and the straight line winds. One of our plantings of sweet corn laid right down and our strawberry fields suffered a lot of runoff because at this time of year we've rototilled the beds and there's a lot of exposed ground. In addition, one of our pumpkin fields was underwater for awhile last night. Fortunately, our waterways are doing their job at funneling all that water away from our crops and downstream to the Pecatonica River.

But just because we've had a lot of rain doesn't mean there won't be great products at market this week. Tomatoes are starting to come in! In addition, the Mineral Point Brownie and Daisy Troops will have a lunch stand offering brats, hotdogs, baked goods, and drinks.
All proceeds will go towards updating the playground equipment at Water Tower Park.
Be sure to stop up at market this week!

Here is a partial list of items at this week's market: Beef, Pork, Bacon, Chicken, Rabbit, Turkey, Duck, Cheese, Eggs, Lettuces, Salad Mix, Tomatoes, Leeks, Onions, Garlic, Zucchini, Summer Squash, Cucumbers, Eggplant, Peppers, Swiss Chard, Kale, Red Beets, Basil, Dill, Cilantro, Fennel Bulbs, Green Beans, Potatoes, Asparagus Soup, Strawberry Rhubarb Pie, Honey, Maple Syrup, BBQ Sauce, Salsa, Relish, Bee Pollen, Cards, Perennials, Scones, Muffins, Cookies, Bars, Doll Clothing, Wildlife Prints, Watercolor Art, Coffee, and much more. Come and check it all out!

We look forward to seeing you this Saturday morning at Water Tower Park, Business Hwy 151 at Madison Street, Mineral Point! 8:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Hi All!  It seems summer is in full swing and you may remember that Mummu does not do heat very well (actually, not at all!!) so I will not be at Market this week, July 22.  Instead I will be in lovely air-conditioning with a cold drink.  I will be spending time at my sewing machine, too.  I don't find that terribly taxing in the heat.  So I will plan on seeing you on July 29.  If you do need a gift or just want to see my new creations, feel free to call me at 623-2595 and we can set up a time for you to come to my house in Cobb and shop.  As I always tell people.....DO remember it is a "crafting house" and fabric WILL meet you at the front door!!  Till we see each other again.....Keep Smiling  and  Keep Cool!!  Mummu

We were grateful to miss the really heavy rains last week. It even dried out enough to do some planting on Tuesday. More rain is in store, but our field look quite good for this point in the summer. Lettuce is back! A new patch is maturing and looks great. We’ll have red leaf, green butter, green leaf, baby romaine, and some mixed baby lettuces. Salad mix will be in good supply, too. Cherry tomatoes are ripening every day, so hopefully we won’t run out before 10am! We’ll also have some saladette tomatoes (small orange, red, brown, and striped), and a few boxes of red slicing tomatoes (they’re just starting up). Other veggies include: leeks, fresh red bottle onions, garlic heads, zucchini and summer squash, cucumbers, a few eggplant, sweet green peppers, Swiss chard, kale, red beets, green beans (limited supply), basil, dill, cilantro, fennel bulbs, and probably a few things I’m forgetting. See you Saturday! Rink, Jenny, and Charlie.

July 15th - Week 11

Hello MP Market Goers!

Congrats goes to Marcia Thompson, winner of last week's market basket drawing!

This week has been quite exciting! We've been able to harvest our first planting of green beans and we dug our garlic. Summer crops are really coming in and farmers are busy. However, we are in a holding pattern right now until we dry out a bit. We had so much rain the other day, 3.5 inches!
We always appreciate a good rain on our farm but 3.5 is a bit too much at a time. To combat heavy rains like this farmers plant waterways to grass so that when the rains come they don't take all of our precious soil with it.
Here's Bures Berry Patch and their waterways handling the overflow of rainwater.

Hoping for drier days to come!

Here is a partial list of items at this week's market: Beef, Pork, Bacon, Chicken, Rabbit, Turkey, Duck, Cheese, Eggs, Cucumbers, Zucchini, Summer Squash, Basil, Cherry Tomatoes, Spinach, Broccoli, Salad Mix, Kale, Swiss Chard, Leeks, Fresh Garlic, Kohlrabi, Cilantro, Basil, Dill, Small Leeks, Beets, Green Beans, Raspberries, Potatoes, Asparagus Soup, Strawberry Rhubarb Pie, Honey, Maple Syrup, Organic Flour and Cornmeal, Bee Pollen, Cards, Perennials, Scones, Muffins, Cookies, Bars, Doll Clothing, Watercolor Art, Coffee, and much more. Come and check it all out!

We look forward to seeing you this Saturday morning at Water Tower Park, Business Hwy 151 at Madison Street, Mineral Point! 8:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Hello market friends! Don't let this heat of the summer stop you from coming out and enjoying everything that market has to offer. The peas and oats and second crop are cut, baled and wrapped, and now its time to get the sorghum sudan grass in. There's never a dull moment here at the farm! In between rain drops, fieldwork and chores, we will be baking fresh for you: Scones (some bacon apricot this week), muffins, bars (possibly some key lime refreshers), pie bars, breakfast breads depending on the humidity, cookies, etc. Don't forget that we do take orders as well, so if you have a get together coming up but not enough time to wait for a pan of something to bake, we'd be happy to do it for you! Cucumbers! It is the week for lots and lots of cukes. They seem to be peaking in the hoophouse and at the same time starting to come along in the fields. Plan for cucumber salads, refrigerator pickles, wraps, and whatever else you can come up with. Zucchini and summer squash are also abundant - great sautéed with basil and garlic and tossed with pasta.  Tomatoes are just starting to ripen. We’ll have a few pints of cherry tomatoes plus a few small-fruited red and orange ones. Very limited this week. Spinach is back for a brief summer appearance, as is broccoli (for a few weeks). Other items include salad mix, kale, Swiss chard, leeks, fresh garlic (uncured – store in the frig), kohlrabi, cilantro, basil, dill, small leeks, beets, possibly some fresh shallots, endive, and a limited amount of baby lettuces (we have a lettuce shortage this week). Hi All!  Just a very quick note this week to let you know I am planning to be at Market this Sat. July 8 with more clothes for your dolls.  Hope to see you there.  Do stop by and say "Hi" as you check out the selections.  Keep cool and Keep Smiling!!    Mummu
Scrappin With Joni
I am looking forward to another great market this Saturday.  My table will have cards for all occasions; birthdays, anniversaries, new babies, get well, sympathy.   Sending a handmade card is a great way to say “I care”.  I also have some sweet little gift boxes.  Follow my Facebook page Scrappin with Joni to see some of the product I will have at the market.  I look forward to seeing you at the Mineral Point Market, stop by and say hi.  Look for me under the red canopy.
Shooting Star Farm
Hope everyone had a great Fourth of July this year. The weather was about as perfect as it could get. It was nice to take most of the day off and enjoy the parade through the fireworks. Back on the farm, we’re still a week or two away from beans and cherry tomatoes, but the recent heat will help them along. For this week we’ll have much the same as last minus the sugar snap peas and carrots (more carrots in about two weeks). Here’s our list for the week: cucumbers, zucchini and patty pan squash, mini white onions, scallions, baby leeks, garlic scapes, cilantro, dill, basil, red, Chioggia, and gold beets, baby arugula, salad mix, lots of lettuce varieties including large romaine, two types of kale, swiss chard, kohlrabi, and possibly red cabbage.
Sweet Earth Garden
Sweet Earth Gardens will NOT be at the Market this week.
Tryol Forge & Tool
We won't be at market this week. Be back soon with our handcrafted hooks.

Here is a list of the unconfirmed vendors that may or may not be at market this week:

Comforters Corner Crate Company
Helianthus Farm
Platteville Sunflower Oil Company

If you are interested in being a vendor, contact Jenny Bonde at starfarm@mhtc.net.
