Hurray for cooler, drier weather! We’ll actually have a fair amount of lettuce this weekend. Some salad mix will be available, too. It will be mostly baby lettuces with a bit of spicy greens tossed in. Tomatoes are slowing down a bit, but we still have plenty. We’ll offer red slicers, paste, heirlooms, and cherry tomatoes by the pound, pint and quart, and will have some larger quantities boxed up at a discount price. If you’d like larger quantities, or are willing to use large quantities of seconds (blemishes, small cracks), send us an email. We can set some aside. We’ll have lots of colorful peppers this weekend – all sweet – and few Anaheim (mildly hot) peppers, too. Also look for beets, carrots, zucchini, cucumbers, basil, green beans, Swiss chard, two types of kale (new crop for fall), and onions. See you Saturday! Rink, Jenny, and Charlie.

Week 19 - September 4, 2010

Hello MP Market goers! Another BIG weekend is upon us. The Iowa County Fair and Labor Day weekend - the last holiday weekend of the summer. Sounds like the weather may be a bit damp but at least tolerable temperatures. You can find the full fair schedule of events and more at www.iowacountyfair.com. In addition to the daily schedule of events, there is a wealth of information on the site regarding the history of the fair and accomplishments of the area youth through the years. I found the Goninen Scrapbook especially interesting. A tremendous amount of time and effort was put into preserving these memories for all of us to appreciate. Make sure to come out and enjoy the fun at the Iowa County Fair and create some memories of your own!

Following is the list of who will be vending at this week's Market - hope to see you there!

Bures Berry Patch
BURES BERRY PATCH will be at market this week. Kathy will be bringing some of our scrumptious fall red and yellow RASPBERRIES! In addition, Kathy will be bringing more of our delicious SWEET CORN (this could possibly be our last week with sweet corn). This bicolor variety is call OBSESSION and it certainly has become an obsession of Kathy’s. We put bags of this corn in the freezer so that we can eat it all winter long. Now is a great time to stock up the freezer with this delicious treat. For a great tasting and easy freezing recipe check out our recipe at www.buresberrypatch.com/corn-facts.htm. If you can't make it to market this week, THE FARM IS NOW OPEN FOR OUR SWEET CORN SEASON. Stop by on your way home from work and pick up dinner. The patch is open daily from 9 am to 7 pm. In addition to corn and raspberries, Bures Berry Patch will also have GARLIC, SQUASH, homemade DILLY BEANS, pure MAPLE SYRUP, as well as HONEY. In October, we finish our season at the patch with an unbelievable selection of pumpkins of all different shapes and colors as well as gourds, squash, and Indian corn. Shooting Star Farm

Wyman Produce and Supreme Seafood
Liz Wyman and Molly Parker are a mother daughter team bringing a wide variety of products to the Mineral Point Market. We will continue to have Beefsteak tomatoes and Cherry tomatoes at the market in June. Along with our cucumbers, the tomatoes are all homegrown by us in our greenhouses in Potosi. Through the summer we will have seafood from Supreme Seafood including shrimp, talapia, salmon, cod, frog legs, lobster, crab legs, scallops and many more. The scallops, cod, crab and salmon are from Alaska. The lobster and reef shark are from the Caribbean. The shrimp is from the Gulf. The perch, bluegill and walleye are from Canada. Most all other are farm raised in Louisiana and Florida. We will be running a different special each week.

New vendors are always welcome although if we have a limited amount of spaces for each product category so some may be placed on a waiting list until a spot becomes available. If you know anyone that might enjoy selling at the market or perhaps you yourself would, please contact Jenny Bonde at starfarm@mhtc.net or call 608-967-2319, or myself, Lois Federman, at federman@charter.net or call 608-987-2097.

We look forward to seeing you this Saturday morning at Water Tower Park, Business Hwy 151 at Madison Street, Mineral Point, WI. 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. Rain or Shine!
