May 26th - Week 4

Hello MP Market Goers!

Congratulations to all the High School graduates! The community is proud of you and your efforts! Good luck to all of you!

It's Memorial Day Weekend and we want to take this opportunity to thank those men and women whose service to our country means so much to the community as well as those around the world. I found this quote today and for me personally I think it says it all. “It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God such men lived” — George S. Patton
Things are heating up! It's gonna be a cooker this weekend so it's time to pull the grill out and come on up to market to get some meat and veggies and keep the heat out of the kitchen and out on the deck. Be sure to read the news page as a couple of our vendors have Memorial Day sales going on.
Graduations and Father's Day are also coming up! Remember that our market not only has farmers providing you with fresh, local produce but we also have several wonderful artisan vendors. Maybe you can find that perfect gift for your loved one at the Mineral Point Market while getting the items you need for that special grad party you're throwing.

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend everyone and don't forget about the parade on High Street Monday morning!

Here is a partial list of items at this week's market: Beef, Pork, Bacon, Poultry, Eggs, Cheese, Salad Mix, Arugula, Lettuces, Napa Cabbage, Baby Bok Choy, Kohlrabi, Radishes, Salad Turnips, Kale, Herbs, Beets, Asparagus, Rhubarb, Frozen Sweet Corn, Dilly Beans, Decorative Glass Block, Ceramic Tiles & Wine Bottles, Cards, Gift Boxes, Scones, Muffins, Cookies, Bars, Cupcakes, Brownies, Fresh Cut Flowers, Honey, Maple Syrup, Wildlife Prints and Cards, Coffee Beans, Coffee, Massage Chair, and much more.   Come and check it all out!

We look forward to seeing you this Saturday morning at Water Tower Park, Business Hwy 151 at Madison Street, Mineral Point! 8:30 to 11:00 a.m.

We had a perfect day for our first market of the season and I'm looking forward to many more!  I will not be at the market this weekend or the following.  I will be spending Saturday morning photographing birds in Milwaukee this week and we have a family camping trip planned for the 19th. I am planning on being back at the market on the 26th with a selection of my matted prints as well as my popular greeting cards.  If you need anything before the 26th, my cards are available at the Mineral Point Collection located at 151 High Street.  Or feel free to visit my website at www.magiclightphotography.com or my Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/mlp.michaeljsmith/

The weather was beautiful for the first market of the season. Thanks to everyone who came out! Lots of plants went in the ground before this last round of rain (just in time), and even got a bit of hoeing accomplished for the onions and garlic. Outdoor veggies are still behind schedule based on previous years, but more will be coming out of the hoophouse this week. I will have red and French Breakfast radishes, salad turnips (more than last week), baby bok choy (plenty), salad mix and baby arugula (more than last week), spinach, kale, and mixed heads of lettuce. Also, I will be bringing tomato plants for sale (some basic reds, cherry types, and mix of heirlooms). The weather looks to be cool, but there will be hot coffee, so come and see us!

It's time folks, the Mineral Point Market is back for its 23rd season in Water Tower Park this Saturday from 8:30-11 am. And just because we're a few weeks behind in the growing schedule doesn't mean that there won't be fresh produce at market this week because there will be fresh produce!

Welcome to spring everyone and welcome back to another season of market!  The weather has finally shifted toward the warm, so let's celebrate the beauty of the season!  I am so very glad to be back this year, with the standard favorites and something new...
This season, each week we will be featuring brownies, a different flavor each week. This week, with the kickoff of the warm season, stop over for a Double Orange Cocoa Brownie.  For those of you who haven't had this combination, you're missing out!  Also this year we will have a decorated cupcake (for a special someone or just a fancy treat for yourself).  This week will be Cookie Dough Cupcakes.  For a taste of yesteryear, also featured weekly will be hand pies.  This week let's start off simple with an Apple Cinnamon variety.
Don't forget to stop by for the favorites: Scones (asparagus bacon, anyone?) Muffins (lemon blueberry and some friends)
Snack/Dessert Bars (chocolate toffee, cranberry, etc) and more!  I'm anticipating good weather Saturday, so come on out to Water Tower Park!
And please keep in mind, that if you need an order for a celebration or just a dinner dessert, orders are gladly taken!

We're back at market this year just not this week. See you next week!

Spring has arrived! It’s hard to believe we had snow on the ground just two weeks ago. It’s been a mad dash to get plants in the ground, and everyone’s asking if there will be any produce for the first Market.  Thank goodness for a hoop house chock full of spring veggies. Although it’s unheated, the air and soil warm so much faster than outside. So yes, there will be spring vegetables on Saturday. Here’s what I plan to harvest: salad mix, baby arugula, spinach, red radishes, French breakfast radishes, baby bok choy, and possibly some salad turnips and young kale. Start your morning with a relaxing stroll through the Market. We’re looking forward to seeing you!
Sweet Earth Garden and Vintage China
Sweet Earth Gardens will be at the market on May 5th with Spring flowers.  Looks like a beautiful day-will be good to be back at the market.
