Bone in and Boneless Butterflied Pork Chops are great grilling companions to our beef products. Even though it is summer we have all varieties of Beef and Pork Roasts and on hand - all of which are great on the grill. Our Stew Meat makes the perfect shish-ka-bob meat. Or how about some Beef Short Ribs and Pork Spare Ribs "falling-off-the-bone" slow cooked and covered in Big Butz BBQ Sauce. If you are in need of a large quantity please place your order in advance and we will have it all ready for you to pick up at the Market. When you dine on Marr's Valley View Farms meats, rest assured you are eating naturally lean meats - fresh beef and pork products direct from a local farm to you. Shooting Star Farm

Green beans, summer squash, and tomatoes. Must be summer! The tomatoes are just starting and will be a bit limited, but we will have a nice selection of big and small heirloom tomatoes in a rainbow of colors, as well as good old red slicing tomatoes. In addition, we should have some pints of cherry tomatoes: sweet red, tangy sungold, and juicy, flavorful black (the color is actually more of a purple). The cherry tomatoes are limited, but look for lots and lots in weeks to come. Other summer items include green basil, lemon basil, Italian bottle onions (red, elongated onions with great flavor), sweet onions, scallions, cucumbers (3 kinds), and few eggplant and peppers. We will have also have Swiss chard, beets, fennel, and heads of lettuce. Instead of salad mix this week we may have washed baby arugula and “spicy mix”. The baby lettuces for the mix are a bit too small to harvest. Hope to see you Saturday! Rink, Jenny, and Charlie

Wyman Produce and Supreme Seafood

Liz Wyman and Molly Parker are a mother daughter team bringing a wide variety of products to the Mineral Point Market. We will continue to have Beefsteak tomatoes and Cherry tomatoes at the market in June. Along with our cucumbers, the tomatoes are all homegrown by us in our greenhouses in Potosi. Through the summer we will have seafood from Supreme Seafood including shrimp, talapia, salmon, cod, frog legs, lobster, crab legs, scallops and many more. The scallops, cod, crab and salmon are from Alaska. The lobster and reef shark are from the Caribbean. The shrimp is from the Gulf. The perch, bluegill and walleye are from Canada. Most all other are farm raised in Louisiana and Florida. We will be running a different special each week.

New vendors are always welcome although if we have a limited amount of spaces for each product category so some may be placed on a waiting list until a spot becomes available. If you know anyone that might enjoy selling at the market or perhaps you yourself would, please contact Jenny Bonde at starfarm@mhtc.net or call 608-967-2319, or myself, Lois Federman, at federman@charter.net or call 608-987-2097.

We look forward to seeing you this Saturday morning at Water Tower Park, Business Hwy 151 at Madison Street, Mineral Point, WI. 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. Rain or Shine!

Shooting Star Farm

Hurray for green beans! They’re finally ready. We have two varieties that are supposed to mature at different times, but they both came on at once. We just started picking them and should have a good supply for Saturday. Another new item will be eggplant – not a lot, but we are getting a few of the earlier, ichiban (Japanese) variety. We hope to have a few peppers as well. Other summer items include green and gold zucchini and patty pan squash, cucumbers (more this week), basil, mini onions, and fresh, uncured garlic (use just like regular garlic, but store in the refrigerator). We’ll continue to have bunched beets, Swiss chard, kale, lettuce, and scallions. Salad mix will be a bit short again this week. We’ve really struggled with planting it each week due to the wet, humid conditions. It’s just not good to till the soil while it’s wet and it rarely seems to dry out this summer. But we will have some salad. See you all Saturday! Rink, Jenny, & Charlie.
