September 30th - Week 22

Hello MP Market Goers!

Okay so last week wasn't exactly fall feeling. Wow, was it ever hot! But the good thing about the heat was that it helped tremendously in moving along those final summer crops for us. I'm sure Shooting Star's tomatoes were in full production just like our raspberries and sweet corn!

There's lots going on in Mineral Point this weekend! Homecoming, Cornish Fest, the Water Tower Park Hurt's Donut Fundraiser, and the Mineral Point Market. What will you do this weekend? Whatever you decide, be sure to stop up to Water Tower Park for all your upcoming food and gift needs.

Here is a partial list of items at this week's market: Beef, Pork, Bacon, Chicken, Rabbit, Turkey, Duck, Cheese, Eggs, Apples, Pears, Carrots, Beets, Salad Turnips, Kohlrabi, Broccoli, Fennel, Kale, Swiss Chard, Leeks, Scallions, Onions, Shallots, Garlic, Cucumbers, Summer Squash, Tomatoes, Peppers, Artichokes, Lettuces, Salad Mix, Arugula, Radishes, Cilantro, Dill, Basil, Watermelons, Cantaloupes, Raspberries, Sweet Corn, Potatoes, Dilly Beans, Honey, Maple Syrup, Asparagus Soup, Strawberry Rhubarb Pie, Cards, Nature & Wildlife Prints, Fresh Cut Flowers, Doll Clothes and much more. Come and check it all out!

We look forward to seeing you this Saturday morning at Water Tower Park, Business Hwy 151 at Madison Street, Mineral Point! 8:30 to 11:00 a.m.

We are offering pick-up of our Meat CSA at market this year - ask us on Saturday for details and how to join. See you soon - All of us at Marr's Valley View Farms.

Hi All!  I am back from a fantastic visit with  my sister and am ready to be back at Market.......
HOWEVER, I will have to see how I make it thru the next couple of days with the heat and humidity before I can say for sure I will be there this Sat. Sept. 23.  It sounds like a serious blast of summer is on the way and as you recall, Mummu doesn't do heat and humidity well. I hate to not be able to commit right now but if the weather isn't an issue, I will be there.  That's the best I can say right now.  So I hope to see you all there.  Do stop by and say "Hi" and visit awhile as you shop.  Keep Smiling!!  Mummu

August weather in late September has us scratching our heads and sweating just a little too much. Good thing our watermelon crop was so late this year. They are awfully refreshing right now! We will have broccoli this week ( a little early due to the heat), spinach, bok choy, lettuces, salad mix, arugula, beets, turnips, kale, fennel, leeks, onions (3 varieties), garlic, shallots, and radishes for our fall veggie lineup. And for summer,  plenty of tomatoes! Red slicing tomatoes and sauce tomatoes are still coming in strong. Buy them by the pound or the box ($30 for a 20# box). Heirlooms and cherry tomatoes are still looking good, too. Other summer items include watermelon, cantaloupe, eggplant, tomatillos, colorful sweet peppers, green peppers, hot peppers, cucumbers, dill, and a bit of zucchini. Rink and Charlie are off to a soccer tournament this weekend, but Jenny, Taylor, and Krista will be there! See you Saturday!

September 16th - Week 20

Hello MP Market Goers!

Congratulations to Mary Glindinning, winner of last week's market basket drawing. With just 6 weeks left of market that means there's just one drawing left. Don't miss out, next drawing is October 14th!

Well, it is Wisconsin and the weather sure is a changing! Last week we were freezing cold this week summer is back. Now if we could only get a little rain, things are beginning to look a bit brown. But the warm weather sure has helped to move along those favorite late summer items. Tomatoes are at peak, sweet corn is back, and the fall raspberries are finally coming in.

This is also the time of year when one begins to think about the warm meals they'll be sharing throughout the winter. Pot roast anyone? Or celebrations they'll be having. Duck anyone? You can find it all at the Mineral Point Market, it's the planning ahead that's hard.
Be sure to check out all the vendors this week with a mind toward the upcoming winter and holidays. Need gifts, cards, flowers? Start thinking ahead; in the end it will make everything easier.

Here is a partial list of items at this week's market: Beef, Pork, Bacon, Chicken, Rabbit, Turkey, Duck, Cheese, Eggs, Apples, Pears, Tomatoes, Eggplant, Peppers, Cucumbers, Watermelon, Cantaloupe, Spinach, Radishes, Fennel, Celery, Lettuce, Salad Mix, Beets, Kohlrabi, Swiss Chard, Kale, Onions, Shallots, Sweet Corn, Raspberries, Potatoes, Garlic, Asparagus Soup, Strawberry Rhubarb Pie, Honey, Maple Syrup, Dilly Beans, Cards, Muffins, Cookies, Bars, Fresh Cut Flowers, and much more. Come and check it all out!

We look forward to seeing you this Saturday morning at Water Tower Park, Business Hwy 151 at Madison Street, Mineral Point! 8:30 to 11:00 a.m.

We're getting busy once again at the Patch! Sweet corn is back and our fall raspberries are in! Lots of deliciousness! We still have some blue and german butterball potatoes coming out of the field and we're starting to harvest our colorful selection of pumpkins, gourds, squash, and all things fall. As usual, we'll also bring to market our frozen cream of asparagus soup, strawberry rhubarb pie, honey, maple syrup, and dilly beans. The Patch will open for our fall season on September 23rd. For more info about the Patch check out our websiteFacebook page, or sign up for our e-newsletter. We hope to see you in the Patch or at market soon! Kathy, Ed, Abby, and Ben

Hello everyone! The weather feels a bit more summerish, just like Wisconsin! I'm glad to be back this Saturday with items to satisfy your taste buds. And just some hints in leui of the weather... Some of the savory scones pair very well with soup from Happy Hunter Farms. Also, instead of a bread stick or croutons, you can also pair a scone with a fresh salad from Star Farms' beautiful produce. Finish off dinner of beef roast or pork from Valley View Farms, or maybe chicken or duck from Pine Valley Farms or Bryant Family Farms, (don't forget fresh potatoes from Bures Berry Patch) with chocolate treats or fruited baked treats. And while you're shopping for that special meal, grab some fresh cut flowers from Sweet Earth Gardens, and give a special family member(s) a 'you're awesome' with a homemade card from Joni and Charity, or add a new picture to your home from Jan or Mike!
This week I will have scones, muffins, bars, cookies, cake and more! I'm very proud to be a part of this market for the past 6 seasons... And I can't wait to see all of you Saturday and in the years to come!

We have lots of gorgeous eggplant, orange and red sweet peppers, green peppers, cucumbers, watermelon, and cantaloupe. Other veggies include spinach, radishes, fennel, celery, lettuce, salad mix, beets, kohlrabi, Swiss chard, kale, red onions, yellow onions, Italian bottle onions, garlic, and shallots. Should be a beautiful Saturday! Rink, Jenny, and Charlie.

Hello MP Market Goers!

Boy did the temperature sure change! Fall is here in a big way and I feel like I'm playing catch up! Not only am I still waiting to freeze sweet corn but I also still need to can salsa. What's your favorite way to preserve Wisconsin's goodness? I'm hoping with the holiday behind us and the kids in school that I'll be able to tackle a few of these projects next week. Maybe I'll even tackle some apple butter, who wouldn't want to have that smell in the house (mmm, apple pie all day long).

Start thinking ahead, W.. W.. W.. Winter is coming. What do you want to eat this winter?

Here is a partial list of items at this week's market: Beef, Pork, Bacon, Chicken, Rabbit, Turkey, Duck, Cheese, Eggs, Apples, Pears, Watermelons, Cantaloupe, Eggplant, Peppers, Tomatoes, Tomatillos, Cucumbers, Onions, Fennel, Celery, Radishes, Salad Turnips, Beets, Green Beans, Lettuce, Arugula, Salad Mix, Kale, Napa Cabbage, Herbs, Potatoes, Garlic, Asparagus Soup, Strawberry Rhubarb Pie, Honey, Maple Syrup, Dilly Beans, Cards, Muffins, Cookies, Bars, Fresh Cut Flowers, Doll Clothes, and much more. Brr, wow did our temperatures change. Everything slows down at these temps and because of the cold temps we are unsure if our next planting of sweet corn will be ready by Saturday or not. We will however have German butterball and blue potatoes, garlic, frozen strawberry rhubarb pie, cream of asparagus soup, dilly beans, honey, and pure maple syrup. We're gearing up for pumpkin season at the Patch.
