Thanks, Mike.
Marr's Valley View Farms
Congratulations to the Mineral Point Market on it's 20th Anniversary!  That is a major accomplishment for a small town Market - it's continued to flourish over those 20 years.  We've seen many products and vendors evolve over time.  Marr's Valley View Farms has been vending for 18 of those years beginning first with selling sweet corn raised on our farm then began marketing beef products and eventually adding pork products to the mix.  We invite you to come celebrate with us this Saturday and enjoy some anniversary cake, music and reminisce with our guests.  In addition to the anniversary, we're celebrating National Hot Dog month and July Beef month in Wisconsin!  We are fully stocked with ground beef patties, hot dogs and bratwurst for your weekend cookout!  And of course, Tenderloin, New York Strip and Top Sirloin are irresistible on the grill.  Feeding extra-hungry mouths - go for the "meal on it's own" Porterhouse or T-Bone steak.  If you are like us, you are a lover of weekend family breakfasts that include bacon, pork sausage and ham.  Our Pork Chops are great grilling companions to our beef products.  Even though it is summer, we have all varieties of Beef and Pork Roasts on hand - all of which hit new levels of "delicious" when done on the grill.  Our Stew Meat makes the prefect shish-ka-bob meat.  Or how about some Beef Short Ribs and Pork Spare Ribs "falling-off-the-bone" slow cooked.  If you are in need of a large quantity please place your order in advance and we will have it all ready for you to pick up at the Market.  When you dine on Marr's Valley View Farms meats, rest assured you are eating naturally lean meats - fresh beef and pork products direct from a local farm to you.  If you need a large quantity - send an e-mail to federman@charter.net or call 608-574-2899 by Friday evening and we will have your order ready for pickup at the Market.  See you Saturday!  All of us at Marr's Valley View Farms, Mineral Point, WI.

Mummu's Makeovers aka Susan Marr
Hi All!  I am so sorry to have missed the celebrations last Sat.  I truly did sit inside with the A.C. on, altho when I did venture outside, it wasn't quite as bad as I thought.  But, since I was ready for "Christmas in July", I will be doing it this Sat. even tho it is Aug. 1st already!  So the specials will be on!!  I have been busy all week as I will be at Lands' End tomorrow (Thurs.) for their community market day.  If you won't be able to come to M.Pt. on Sat. and want to see the new items, you can catch me there.  However, I will not be offering my specials......I will save that for our Market.  And, of course,  if you (or I) can't be there on Sat., call me at 623-2592 to set a time to come and shop at my house in Cobb.  I am looking forward to seeing you all on Sat.!   Do stop by and say "Hi" and chat a bit.  I love the socializing in M.Pt.! Mummu

What a great turnout for our 20 – year celebration last week. Thanks to everyone who volunteered to play music, provide information, and activities for kids. It was fun! On to the veggies. This week will look much like last week with the addition of more tomatoes. Our red tomatoes are slow this year (darn.) But we’ll have lots of smaller, colorful “saladette” tomatoes, a few larger heirlooms, and a reasonable supply of cherry tomatoes. Here’s the rest: fresh white and Italian bottle onions, bunched carrots, beets, broccoli, red and green cabbage, Swiss chard, kale, collards, green beans, cucumbers, summer squash, green peppers (bell and Italian frying types), eggplant, basil, cilantro, parsley, arugula, and possibly spinach. We will have a “spicy mix” of salad greens, and arugula. We are very short on lettuce this week. All that rain three weeks ago delayed planting which has caught up to us. More lettuces next week. See you Saturday! Rink, Jenny, and Charlie
Sweet Earth Gardens
Sweet Earth gardens will at this weeks market this week.  We will have delphiniums, dahlias, daisies, liatris, phlox, bee balm, gladiolas, sunflowers, roses and zinnias.  Hope to see you there. Barbara

Mummu's Makeovers aka Susan Marr
Hi All!  A great week in SW Wisconsin so far......no serious heat or humidity  (so far) and great nites for sleeping.  My kind of summer!  This is so much like Upper Michigan (my "home").  It seems there is a slight chance for storms on Sat. a.m., and if that happens, the dolls and I will be staying in Cobb. (I did find out last week that wind is definitely not the friend of the dolls or their clothes so if that is the weather of the day, again, we will be in Cobb.  Thanks to Mary Jean for her help in rescuing lots of things and coming up with the solution for displaying the dolls!!) I hope you will all be at our great festivities this Sat. July 25 to help celebrate 20 years of Market in M.Pt.  I will be offering many "Christmas in July" specials!  I've been very busy trying to build my inventory and have been quite successful.  So do bring your Christmas lists and take advantage of the savings!  Stop by to say "Hi" and check out the specials for the day.  And, of course, if you (or I) aren't able to be there, feel free to call me at 623-2592 and we will make a date for you to shop at my house in Cobb!  Enjoy the rest of the week and I'm looking forward to seeing you at Market on Sat.      Mummu

Mummu's Makeovers aka Susan Marr
Hi All!  Summer is indeed here!  We've seen some pretty hot days this week and it seems we aren't quite done yet.  I am planning to be at Market this Sat. July 18 but we're seeing anywhere from 88 to 92 predicted for Sat. with lots of humidity so I'm just not sure. As I've said, I just don't do well in heat and humidity.  The dolls will all be decked out in new bathing suits and accessories.....some have cover-ups, some beach bags, come hats, some even have swim fins (flippers?....you know, for snorkeling and diving??!) and they all have a matching towel.  All made by Mummu with love. Plus lots of other fun summer clothes and accessories. So I hope to see you at Market.  Do stop by and say "Hi" and have fun looking at the new items.  If you or I can't be there on Sat. and you need a gift, remember I am just a phone call away 623-2592  and we will arrange a time for you to come to Cobb and shop at my house!    See you at Market......Mummu  Oh, by the way......Where's the Beef?????  July is Beef Month so do support your local beef farmers, especially those at M.Pt. Market!!

Overall it’s been a rather cool summer, which has caused some crops to come in slowly. Although they’re about a week late, we will finally have green beans this Saturday. Not a huge amount, so if you miss them this week, they’re will be plenty in the future. We’ll be picking them from now until September (and our backs will be stronger for it… I hope). Napa cabbage is done for the summer, but we have lots of great-tasting green and red cabbage. Other items on our table this week include fennel, red and gold beets, kohlrabi, small and large lettuces (butter, leaf, and oakleaf), salad mix, arugula, kale, collards, Swiss chard, cucumbers, basil, cilantro, dill, scallions, spinach, and possibly bunched carrots. See you Saturday! Rink, Jenny, and Charlie.

After market Friday then there was the Parade on Saturday, which was super fun and super fast when one is attempting to hand out sugar snap peas en route. Next up BBQ, Pie, and the all important FIREWORKS! Be sure to check out Magic Light Photography's video of the occasion.
All in all a great 4th of July weekend! Thanks to all who serve to protect our freedom, your sacrifices do not go unnoticed! You and your family are so greatly appreciated!
So one would think that after a nice holiday weekend and a very busy strawberry season that we farmers would take a few days to rest, relax, slow down a bit right? Not exactly, while we were picking strawberries the weeds were a growing! All that rain we got during the strawberry season has produced some pretty fine weeds in the sweet corn and pumpkin fields. It's catch up time! But we know that we aren't the only ones playing catch up. Honestly, it happens to almost all gardeners. So take heart and know that you are not alone in the struggle against weeds in the garden. Maybe invite a friend over to help out, then you can return the favor in their garden. Gardening is always better with a friend.

Here is a partial list of items at this week's market:  Beef, Pork, Chicken, Eggs, Cheese, Salad Mix, Arugula, Shelling Peas, Bunched Beets, Broccoli, Green and Red Cabbage, Kohlrabi, Napa Cabbage, Kale, Swiss Chard, Parsley, Cilantro, Basil, Dill, Scallions, Lettuce Heads, Garlic Scapes, Endive, and possibly a few Cucumbers and Summer Squash, Sugar Snap Peas, Maple Syrup, Frozen Cream of Asparagus Soup, Frozen Strawberry Rhubarb Pie, Pectin, Baked Goods, Dilly Beans, Watercolor art, Wildlife Prints, Dehydrated veggies, Corn meal and flour, Baby Food, Perennial Plants, BBQ Sauce, Salsa, Jams, and Jellies, Doll Clothes, Fresh Cut Flowers, Alpaca Products, honey and so much more.   Come and check it all out!

Thanks, Mike

Friday 7/3/15 - Week 10

Due to the 4th of July Parade using the park on Saturday, there will be NO MARKET SATURDAY JULY 4TH. HOWEVER, there will be a special pop up market on Friday, July 3rd from 4-6pm in Water Tower Park!

Not all of our regular vendors will be at this special pop up market but for certain, Shooting Star Farm, Marr's Valley View Farms, James' Pine Valley Farm and Bures Berry Patch will be there!
With all this rain, things just keep growing. The weeds have been hard to keep up with this season, especially since there hasn’t been a chance to use our equipment to cultivate. It’s just too wet out here. Farmers also are having a tough time getting their hay cut and baled. We’ve been having a tough time getting our berries picked (but…I just might have berries again on Friday!)
The forecast does look amazing though for the 4th of July weekend, it is so nice to see the sun in the forecast once again. Finally, we can light up the grill make some wonderful salads and enjoy time outdoors with family and friends.
So come on out Friday from 4-6pm to our special pop up market for all of your 4th of July celebration needs!
Have a wonderful 4th of July!

We look forward to seeing you this Friday evening at Water Tower Park, Business Hwy 151 at Madison Street, Mineral Point! 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
