August 30th - Week 17

Hello MP Market Goers!

Where did the summer go?  Wow, it is Labor Day Weekend!  We know it's a busy weekend; fair, getting ready for school, backyard bbqs to attend or host.  But don't let that stop you from coming to the Mineral Point Market Saturday morning.  We've got a couple new vendors coming on the scene.  You may have noticed one last weekend, Tippy Top Orchard?  That's right, it's pear and apple season!  Plus new this week is Winndie Darrow making handmade scarves, potholders, and more!

Now that school is about to start once again and the temperatures are cooling it is time to get back in the routine of making dinner at home happen.  Things get so busy in the summer and it can certainly get too hot to want to cook.  Now is the time to start planning your dinners.  Real dinners with fresh veggies, fruits, and locally raised meats.  Can you tell that I'm excited?  Summer goes by so fast for me and dinners, well they often don't get the planning they need.  Back on track I go this week with Steak, Salad, and corn, tacos with fresh tomatoes and lettuce and edamame (the kids love popping these little beans out of their pods), brats with potatoes and more corn.  Those are just a few ideas from our menu this upcoming week.  Plus don't forget to pickup teacher gifts this weekend.  My kids always like to go to school on the first day with a special welcome gift for their new teacher.

Here is a partial list of items at this week's market:  Apples, Pears, Green Beans (last week for these), Potatoes, Cherry Tomatoes and slicing tomatoes, Broccoli, Swiss Chard, Sweet Corn, Onions, Mixed Greens, Beef, Pork, Chicken, Eggs, Cheese, Honey, Maple Syrup, Egg plant, Peppers, Edamame, Raspberries, Parsley, Basil, Dill, Artisan Breads and Baked Goods, Kale, Beets, Salad Dressing, Scallions, Watercolor art, Dilly Beans,  Pies, Fresh Cut flowers, Yard art, Head Lettuce, Herbs, Red Cabbage, Fennel, Cucumbers, Zucchini, Goat Milk Soap & Shampoo, Wildlife Prints and Cards, Scarves, Potholders, and much more.   Come and check it all out!

We look forward to seeing you this Saturday morning at Water Tower Park, Business Hwy 151 at Madison Street, Mineral Point! 8:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Mummu's Makeovers aka Susan Marr
Another beautiful week is upon us!  It does sound like we may actually get some much needed rain by the week-end so I am planning to stay home and sew.  I have so many new fabrics and "make-over items" , etc. to get at but this darn "day job" is really slowing me down!!  My decision to retire is getting more and more difficult as the "Big 65" is getting dangerously closer.  So, while I wait and debate, I will keep the sewing machine going as much as I can.  The dolls DO need clothes, after all!  If you find that you do need a gift before my next Market day (Aug. 23), call me at 623-2592 and we can certainly take care of it at my house in Cobb.  Check out the city-wide garage sales while you're in town for Market this Sat!  Lots of treasures to be found!  I'll see you on Sat. Aug. 23 at Market! Mummu (this is Finnish for "Grandma")

Look for sungold, red grape, and mixed pints of striped yellow, pink, and purple cherry tomatoes. Other items on our table this week will include green beans, zucchini and pattypan squash, cucumbers, eggplant, a few sweet peppers, onions, spinach, salad mix, baby arugula, Swiss chard, kale, beets, fennel, basil, parsley, dill, and cilantro. Rink will be riding in the Dairyland Dare this weekend, so be sure to cheer him on if you happen to be near High Street around 10:00am. See you Saturday! Rink, Jenny, and Charlie
