Week 9 - June 29th
Hello MP Market Goers!
Wow, what a week this has been! The rain started last Friday and it hasn’t stopped. Nine inches in our rain gauge this past week! I hope everyone has weathered the weather? What a difference a year makes right? Surprisingly though some crops love this weather; my sugar snap peas have fattened up nicely and our strawberries, though they don’t love the weather, have managed to come out of it better than we ever could have expected (whew). It sure is challenging though to be a farmer. Our beef and dairy farmer this spring have struggled to get the hay out of the field. For those of us truck farmers it becomes quite difficult to harvest our crops much less keep up with the weeds now that the fields are too wet to go into with any equipment (because we all know that they will keep right on growing). That being said though the life of a farmer is pretty sweet. Good eats year round, beautiful scenery at work, family close by one's side. Pretty sweet indeed.
The Mineral Point Market though is not all about the farmer. We have some fantastic artists that grace our park each week with beautiful products. Be sure to check them out this week whether you are looking for a gift or something fun for yourself their products will delight.
Here is a partial list of items at this week’s market: eggs, rhubarb, sugar snap peas, brats, burgers, chicken, baby potatoes, watercolor paintings, wildlife prints, garden plants (both the edibles and non-edibles), honey, maple syrup, jams (lots of varieties), swiss chard, kale, breakfast treats, breakfast, lettuce (many kinds), radishes, spinach, strawberries, and much more! Come and check it all out!
We look forward to seeing you this Saturday morning at Water Tower Park, Business Hwy 151 at Madison Street, Mineral Point! 8:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Bures Berry Patch
Despite the rain strawberry season is going well at the Patch. We will be at market this week with hopefully more strawberries, rhubarb, sugar snap peas, and baby red potatoes! In addition, we had a fantastic crop of pure maple syrup this spring, come out and try a spoonful it is delicious. We also have honey that is produced by the bees at the Patch who help to pollinate the strawberries, raspberries, and pumpkins, as well as whatever else strikes their fancy around the Patch (right now it is the peas). Don't need the sweet stuff? Well then we've got dilly beans; yep sour with a bit of bite. Great for any picnic or event or just if you like the sour stuff! We hope that you will join us this year in eating fresh from the Patch. Now in the patch we have strawberries, rhubarb and our farm fresh eggs available, please check our website for hours and availability . Like us on Facebook or signup for our e-newsletter to get the latest shovel on what’s happening in the Patch! Hope to see you in the Patch or at market soon!

Marr's Valley View Farms
8 1/2" in the rain gauge this weekend! I doubt that we'll
have to worry about whether or not it's too dry to shoot off 4th of July
fireworks this year. Speaking of which, it's time to begin planning your
menu for those July 4th neighborhood cookouts and family camping trips to one
of our beautiful parks or lakes in the area. Place your order early to ensure
you will have what you want for the grill. As Beef producers, we'd like to
remind you that it's never to soon to be thinking about July "Beef
Month". This week, Marr's Valley View Farms will have our full line of
tender, flavorful Black Angus Beef products and pork products at market.
Bratwurst, hamburger patties, steaks and pork chops are in stock for grilling
that quick after work evening meal. If you need a large quantity or just want
to pre-order for pick-up at market, e-mail your order to federman@charter.net
by 5:00 p.m. on Friday night. We are offering pick-up of our Meat CSA at market
again this year - ask us on Saturday for details and how to join. See you soon

Matchbook Magnets
I will not be at the market this week, but plan on returning Saturday, July 13. In the meantime, I will be busy making up some new magnets! Although my dad’s vintage matchbook collection has been the incubator, I recently acquired a boxful of matchbooks and was thrilled to find it held some real gems. I’ll be introducing them throughout the market season. Email: matchbookmagnets@yahoo.com See you in July! Cindy
Mission Abolition
Mission Abolition will not be at market this week, be back next week. Mission Abolition creates schlep bags made from donated fabrics, which brings unique color and pattern designs to each bag. All proceeds from the sales of these bags are donated to the Not For Sale organization, which works to end human trafficking and modern-day slavery. Mission Abolition believes in raising awareness of the needs of people involved in human trafficking and modern-day slavery with a personal touch sewn into each bag.

Shooting Star Farm
Looks like we'll have more than just greens this week. Sugar snap peas should be ready for picking, along with scallions, beets, and possibly some kohlrabi (I may be jumping the gun on that one, but it is sizing up nicely). In addition, we'll have beautiful heads of lettuce, radishes, salad turnips, kale, Swiss chard, baby arugula, salad mix, rhubarb, bok choy, cilantro, dill, and spinach. The tables will be full! See you Saturday! Rink, Jenny, and Charlie.
I am STARLILY Design. I create Cuddly baby Quilties. Sewn from Flannel and backed with Fleece, I call them Quilties because they are smaller for babies and toddlers. They're colorful, soft and comforting. They are also wonderful lap blankets for older people because they're not heavy or unwieldy, they are bright, warm and cozy. Machine wash and dry, easy care. I also make Pot Holders, from bright cheerful cotton fabrics. The larger size is for bigger pans and the smaller ones work well for casserole dishes or for Coasters under your coffee cup. They are lined with a thermal batting for heat resistance. All are machine wash and dry. I've been sewing since childhood, I love color and texture, creating something useful and fun is important to me. I hope to see you at the Market in June! Alice Raymer
The Summer Kitchen
The Summer Kitchen will be at the market Saturday. My employee Mel Margis will be selling jams and jellies. The Summer Kitchen has been selling jams over 40 years and doing it the old fashion way in small batches 10-12 jars at a time using fruit from the farm. I will have over 12 varieties.

We hope that you will join us once again this year in eating fresh from the Patch. Now in the patch we have asparagus, rhubarb and our farm fresh eggs available daily from 9am-7pm. Spring is here and we have begun to plant and harvest our way through the season at Bures Berry Patch. So don’t forget to Like us on Facebook or signup for our newsletter to get the latest shovel on what’s happening in the Patch! Hope to see you in the Patch or at market soon!

Looking forward to another great season at the Mineral Point Market and I will be attending on most Saturdays but not this week! Many new, original design pieces will make their debut throughout the summer! The Saturday morning sunshine is my business partner as it generates radiant facets which captures the attention of many a passerby. Chatting with new customers and familiar acquaintances is always a pleasure as they gaze at the unique handcrafted sparkling creations. Custom pieces and minor repair services are also available. Although I participate in a number of craft fairs throughout the year, the Market continues as a favorite as it's a local gathering place with many return customers. See you over the summer!

We've finally gotten in all of our warm season plants

greens are loving the weather. For this Saturday we'll have lots of lettuce
