Week 5 - June 1st

Hello MP Market Goers!

Wow, June is here already!  The kids have just one week left of school and then it will be pool time, backyard parties, camps and more happenings than most can keep track of.  But please do not forget the healthy eating that the market provides for you and your family.  Every Saturday morning rain or shine our farmers come to the park to offer you; farm fresh, locally raised, and farmer tested products that are great for you and your family.  So come on out and help to keep you and yours healthy and happy this summer with local products that are sure to please everyone at the dinner table!

Here is a partial list of items at this week’s market: eggs, asparagus, rhubarb, brats, burgers, jewelry, watercolor paintings, wildlife prints, garden plants (both the edibles and non-edibles), honey, maple syrup, jams (lots of varieties), baked goods (both good for you and bad for you), lettuce (many kinds), radishes, spinach and much more!  Come and check it all out!

We look forward to seeing you this Saturday morning at Water Tower Park, Business Hwy 151 at Madison Street, Mineral Point! 8:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Bures Berry Patch
Just one crazy week of school left.  Are you looking for a quick easy meal?  Did you know that asparagus is great on the grill.  Just throw it in a grill safe pan and pour some olive oil over it add a little pepper and garlic, grill until it turns slightly brown, easy peasy!  We will be at market this week with asparagus and rhubarb!  In addition, we had a fantastic crop of pure maple syrup this spring, come out and try a spoonful it is delicious.  We will also have honey that is produced by the bees at the Patch who help to pollinate the strawberries, raspberries, and pumpkins, as well as whatever else strikes their fancy around the Patch.  Don't need the sweet stuff?  Well then we've got dilly beans; yep sour with a bit of bite.  Great for any picnic or event or just if you like the sour stuff! We hope that you will join us once again this year in eating fresh from the Patch.  Now in the patch we have asparagus, rhubarb and our farm fresh eggs available daily from 9am-7pm. Spring is here and we have begun to plant and harvest our way through the season at Bures Berry Patch.  So don’t forget to Like us on Facebook or signup for our newsletter to get the latest shovel on what’s happening in the Patch!  Hope to see you in the Patch or at market soon!

Week 3 - May 18th

Hello MP Market Goers!

What a wonderful week it has been, warmth and sunshine.  We got a little cold one night but we are moving on from that.  And so is market!  They are predicting sun and warmth for Saturday, whew! It has been so nice to go out and enjoy the garden, though every time we go out my little guy wants to pick the tulips, soon there will be none left outside.  Instead, I just tell him “it’s time to pick asparagus again”.  He is getting quite helpful, carrying buckets around or nipping a few here and there.
My kids learn so much on the farm, it’s pretty cool.  But they can learn a lot at market also.  How much things cost, how to eat healthy, they can enjoy beautiful art, and be inspired to make some art themselves.  They can also play!  They love running around under the giant oak trees and playing on the playground.  And they always make new friends!  So bring the entire family out to market this Saturday where there is plenty of good food, beautiful things, great company, and PLAY!

We look forward to seeing you this Saturday morning at Water Tower Park, Business Hwy 151 at Madison Street, Mineral Point! 8:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Week 2 - May 11th

Hello MP Market Goers!

Wow, what a beautiful week we have had, hard to remember with the rain we are having now but that sun and warmth really got the crops growing!  For this reason there will be lots of new items this week at market, yummy!
Speaking of new items, did everyone check out the new vendors at market last week?  One of Mineral Point Market's newest vendors is Summer Kitchen.  Summer Kitchen is a veteran to the Dane County Farmers Market.  They make all their own jams and jellies using produce from their farm!
In addition to new vendors, some old vendors will be here this week for the first time of the season.  New items this week include: asparagus, wild leeks, bok choy, schlep bags, crumb cakes, and much, much more.
So before heading out to do more yard work, head on over to the market where you will be able to enjoy some coffee and a breakfast treat, get some great food for the week, and maybe even pick up that special gift for Mom.

We look forward to seeing you this Saturday morning at Water Tower Park, Business Hwy 151 at Madison Street, Mineral Point! 8:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Bures Berry Patch
Things are springing forward at the Patch!  Wow, I have never seen our asparagus go from picking a pound here and there to picking enough for market all in one day.  Pretty cool though!  We will be at market this week with asparagus! Now in the patch we have asparagus and our farm fresh eggs available daily from 9am-7pm. Carey's Greenhouse
I will be attending the farmer's market this Saturday. Unfortunately the cold spring means I don't have much for sale this week. I've got a handful of early bloomers and some tiger lily's. I'll have much more in one week.  My groundcovers and vines are just sprouting this week and my hostas have just broken the surface. My bushes and lilacs are budding out, so I should have my full compliment of plants by May 15.  Del Carey

Looking forward to another great season at the Mineral Point Market and I will be attending on most Saturdays!  Many new, original design pieces will make their debut throughout the summer!  The Saturday morning sunshine is my business partner as it generates radiant facets which captures the attention of many a passerby.  Chatting with new customers and familiar acquaintances is always a pleasure as they gaze at the unique handcrafted  sparkling creations.  Custom pieces and minor repair services are also available.  Although I participate in a number of craft fairs throughout the year, the Market continues as a favorite as it's a local gathering place with many return customers.  See you over the summer!

Shooting Star Farm
What a beautiful week we’ve had. Looks like spring is finally here! Still no veggies from out in the field, but we do have some new items this week from our unheated growing houses. We’ll have some beautiful heads of bok choy and baby romaine lettuce. Rink will bring wild ramps from a friend  (we have too few on our property). Ramps are wild leeks. They have a wonderful strong garlic/onion flavor that’s delicious in all kinds of dishes. Use the greens as well as the roots. We’ll also have red radishes, baby lettuce mix, and spinach. Not sure if the rhubarb will be big enough, but we’re trying to talk it into growing more quickly…. See you Saturday! Rink, Jenny, and Charlie
Starlily Degisn
I am STARLILY  Design. I create Cuddly baby Quilties. Sewn from Flannel and backed with Fleece, I call them Quilties because they are smaller for babies and toddlers. They're colorful, soft and comforting. They are also wonderful lap blankets for older people because they're not heavy or unwieldy, they are bright, warm and cozy. Machine wash and dry, easy care. I also make Pot Holders, from bright cheerful cotton fabrics. The larger size is for bigger pans and the smaller ones work well for casserole dishes or for Coasters under your coffee cup. They are lined with a thermal batting for heat resistance. All are machine wash and dry. I've been sewing since childhood, I love color and texture, creating something useful and fun is important to me. I hope to see you at the Market in June!  Alice Raymer

Week 1 - May 4th

Hello MP Market Goers!

It’s here, it’s here, it’s really here!  Well, we thought this day might never come; but spring has finally come to Wisconsin.  Though after I write this the weather will more than likely change right?  But that is okay, because May is here and that means the Mineral Point Market is here to stay!  Rain or shine, cold or hot, breezy or calm; the Mineral Point Market will be open Saturday mornings 8:30-11:00 am in Watertower Park.  So come on out and join us on opening day of the 2013 Mineral Point Market this Saturday, May 4th.

Let’s all be locavores.  Plus, don’t forget you can get more than just fresh and delicious eats at the market.  The market also has beautiful art products, garden plants and décor, as well as jewelry, and much, much more.

We look forward to seeing you this Saturday morning at Water Tower Park, Business Hwy 151 at Madison Street, Mineral Point! 8:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Following is the list of who will be vending at this week's Market. Be sure to click on the vendors tab to learn more about our new vendors!

Bures Berry Patch
The season is finally here though our crops are a bit behind.  Our asparagus has refused to get growing so we will not be at market this week.  We hope to see you next week with lots of deliciousness from the Patch.  Including: asparagus, rhubarb, honey, maple syrup (which happened to be a wonderful harvest), and dilly beans! We hope that you will join us once again this year in eating fresh from the Patch.  Now in the patch we have our farm fresh eggs available daily from 9am-7pm. Spring is here and soon we will begin to plant and harvest our way through the summer season at Bures Berry Patch.  So don’t forget to Like us on Facebook or signup for our newsletter for the latest shovel on what’s happening in the Patch!  Hope to see you in the Patch or at market soon!
Carey's Greenhouse
I will be attending the farmer's market this Saturday. Unfortunately the cold spring means I don't have much for sale this week. I've got a handful of early bloomers and some tiger lily's. I'll have much more in two weeks.  My groundcovers and vines are just sprouting this week and my hostas have just broken the surface. My bushes and lilacs are budding out, so I should have my full compliment of plants by May 15.  Del Carey

Marr's Valley View Farms
Welcome back to the Mineral Point Market!  Things on the farm are a bit behind by recent standards although we remember days that planting corn in May was the norm and we just hoped to have it out of the fields before deer hunting season and Thanksgiving.  Hopefully Saturday will be a beautiful day to welcome in the 2013 Market season.  We will be introducing our newest bratwurst - Mushroom and Swiss pork brat.  It has quickly become a favorite of ours - eating it all by itself - no bun - no mustard - no anything - it's that tasty!  This week Marr's Valley View Farms will have the complete offering of our products - everything from lean Ground Beef to Tenderloin Steaks to Pork Chops to all your favorite Beef Roasts.  And of course Bacon - everyone's favorite - will be available in Classic, Pepper and Uncured.  If you need a large quantity or just want to pre-order for pick-up at market, e-mail your order to federman@charter.net by 5:00 pm on Friday night. Shooting Star Farm
Spring is finally here! We can’t wait to start another Market season in Mineral Point. Planting things on time has been quite a challenge this spring, and the ground temps are still much colder than normal. Good thing we have an unheated greenhouse get a jump on the growing season. For Saturday we’ll have a nice mix of baby lettuces – double rinsed and spun. The spicy greens that usually go into our salad mix won’t be ready for a few weeks, but the lettuce is yummy! We’ll also have spinach, bunched red radishes and sorrel (a refreshingly tart herb). See you Saturday! Rink, Jenny, and Charlie.
